Ok so I realize this isn't necessarily a Notre Dame thread but I'm curious as to your thoughts about this competition and international football in general and really I couldn't figure out where to stick this one.

I will say many Notre Dame players have played for Team USA and Notre Dame sent a team of Alums to play the Japanese national team in Japan a couple years ago...so ND has many ties to the international game. :D

Did you follow the World championship this year? Did you follow any of the Junior World Championship held in Ohio in 2009? Do you like the idea of our football as an international sport?

Also, for any that possibly care, the 2015 World Championship will be the first tournament to field 12 teams (up from 8), 4 groups, round robin play. They expect to sell 300,000 tickets -- up from 100,000 at this year's championship.

Will play here:

I like the idea. The problem is there are not enough quality teams. Although, it might be good for the growth of the sport. I know that in Canada, football has become very popular among kids lately. They start at a young age, and there are a lot more teams than when I played the game. Especially in Quebec. We'll see, maybe we could put a good product in a few years.
