Headliners and notes....
Kemp was really darn good... even making a couple "wow" saves on sure goals. 66.7% save percentage is awesome especially against a team as explosive as Duke. Could repeat as first team AA.
Matt Kavanagh in his first collegiate action had a dominating 5 point (4G, 1A) performance. Jim Marlatt was just as spectacular with a 6 point (5G, 1A) performance... he should repeat as an All-American in his second year and might push for 1st team honors.
Brian Buglione is the 3rd starting D replacing 1st team AA and 4 year starter Kevin Randall. This was expected/known by most coming into the game... and he played pretty darn well during the game. He wasn't a really heralded recruited but he's supposed to be a very good player with great size and most people thought the defense wouldn't miss a beat with him stepping in this year... looks like they were right. The defense was smothering with on a couple breakdowns that John Kemp mostly cleaned up. One first half goal was just a lucky awkward shot, the first second half goal was a broken clear odd man break, and then the other three were pretty good offense.
The clearing game was not very good and we were horrible at faceoffs... and somehow we still dominated the game. With better faceoff play/clearing the score might've been 18-2. That will really need to be cleaned up moving forward... it was also a huge issue against Team USA and the difference in that scrimmage.
Conor Doyle was surprisingly absent as a contributor. Looks like the Westy Hopkins to midfield move didn't work and the starters at attack will be Kavanagh, Hopkins, and Rogers for now.
