I was looking at the 2006 schedule and I saw that ND faces Penn State on Sept 9th in South Bend. Both these team will be rated in the TOP 5 in the preseason poll and may finish #3 and #4 this year.
Another unrelated interesting point, if ND wins out, the loss to Michigan State will basically be almost irrelevant in the long term for final ratings in 2005/06 season. Reasoning - If they do win all of their remaining games, I think they will finish either #3 or #4. If they didn't lose to MSU - and win out - they may of had a chance to sneak into #2 ahead of the loser of the NC game but probably finish #3. That being said, we should have not lost.
