Kind of depends on whether the number is 6 or 7. But, either way, I wouldn't think they take more than 2 WDE's. The numbers need is at SDE. So if you are going to take 3 at a position, that's probably where you do so. Or, at least take a SDE/3T as the 7th, like Cross might be.

Yea I understand. That's a good point. I was just wondering because it seems like this entire cycle there have been an overabundance of DT and/or SDE's interested in ND (Mazi Smith, Jowon Briggs, Rodas Johnson, etc.). I think it's all contigent on what the staff thinks the future position of those guys will be. Because if you think Lacey, Spears, Rodas Johnson and maybe Howard Cross all project to DT then you wouldn't take all of them probably. Ideally, Hunter Spears does the SDE thing that he was speaking of trying to do early in his career, Howard Cross is an SDE, and then you could bring in Rodas Johnson, but bottom line is ND has a good problem on their hands with this big interest in their program.

That would be a good looking class, but my guess is the staff is looking for someone different than Rodas Johnson as the second SDE.

Yes, we are still recruiting him pretty hard but that recruitment seems a little bizarre. I’m not going to get my hopes up but I’ll be ecstatic if we can somehow get him.

I’ve heard Briggs is a national signing day decision and hasn’t done much with recruiting lately. So I believe ND is still in contact in case their need for a pure DT arises. It’s been mentioned several times that ND wants more 6’4”+ guys on their line right now so he’d not fit that profile, but if a DT or two were to leave things would change.

I kinda wish we would have taken him (assuming he wanted in) if for no other reason than to put a better foothold in Ohio. There's a lot of talent here that even escapes OSU. It's better to get their quality leftovers than let them go elsewhere.

I'd still add rodas and tell mdt to transfer. Convert rodas to the OL later if need be

Why make a swing DL into something he's not when ND can get a Hinish / Franklin level 3* with a snap of the finger every cycle? And as Lucky pointed out, they don't need another DT with Lacey and Spears in this class

Cross took the swing DL spot. Need more of a pass rushing presence with the other spots. This is really a non event. No reason to make this something it’s not. He’s a solid prospect with better players in our class, already, at every position you keep putting him at.

Wiltfong and Loy switched their CBs again, this time to Michigan.

Looks like Wiltfong and Loy think Michigan could grab Mazi Smith & Rodas Johnson which is a pretty nice plan B at DT to what we got.
