he DeMatha standout already took a visit to Maryland, which is down the road from his school, and he is anticipating trips to Virginia Tech and Notre Dame. All three already extended offers to the 6-foot-1,203-pound Cross, who is also speaking with several Big Ten schools yet to offer.

"The schools that offered me stay in contact with me," he said. "I've had some conversations with Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and a little bit from Clemson. And Stanford."

Notre Dame is recruiting Cross hard, and he wants to get to campus.

"I talk to (linebackers) coach (Clark) Lea and I talk to coach (Brian) Kelly sometimes," Cross said. "I like (Lea). He's a very down-to-earth person. I can talk to him after any game and he will tell me what I did. He is honest.

"Before I got the offer, he told me where I stood. I enjoy talking to coach Lea."

Also, Wiltfong just entered a CB for teammate DeMarco Hellams to Clemson so he's doing work on DeMatha as a whole.

Perhaps the staff is telling some of these young men that DB spots are limited, so it may become a game of "who commits first" for some of these guys... hence some guys seemingly coming out of left field with high interest.

Kenyatta will come in as a DB and get a look at CB first with Wallace and STM if he signs.

We have to assume Ajavon is in. Seems obvious ND is all in on Hamilton too.

The question is where thes guys end up. Cross is the same size as Cam McGrone was at the same stage. Is Cross coming in as a S/R/LB? Do they think they can keep Hamilton at safety long term?

Shall be interesting to sort out as we move forward.

Just saw that Nick didn't start playing football until he was a Freshman and he played his Freshman year at DE. At one point his Hudl profile listed him as a SS/DE. Not your typical profile. LOL

Hard to be upset about a tweener S/LB when those positions are going to be filled with JOK/JGH/Simon for years to come plus ND's in great position with Ajavon and Hamilton. Can't sign them all. We've waited a long time for ND to be in this position, enjoy it.
