Discussing 2018 cycle. Not 2019 DL class. Barely any DL are committed yet so there’s not reason to discuss whiffing on guys. They did that last year. This year Elston has Notre Dame set up to win a few more battles.
As for DB recruiting in the last cycle, are Julius Irvin, Kyler Gordon, Taiyon Palmer, and Alontae Taylor worse than Paul Moala, DJ Brown, Joe Wilkins, and Tariq Bracy? I love the finish on the DB class for 2018, but don’t pretend the staff wouldn’t give up a spot for one of Irvin, Palmer, and Gordon in a heartbeat. They lost a recruiting battle which is totally fine. That’s going to happen. Just to point out that they did is not a crime. I just think if you want to compete with Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and those guys for national championships your expectations for ND’s recruiting classes should be extremely high.
PS DJ Johnson from Indianapolis did not turn out to be what I thought but still a quality prospect. So well done for catching me on that one.
