extremely athletic kid and a solid high school receiver, but I don't see him playing WR in college. His ceiling is on the defensive side of the ball.

Let him try out WR. Be honest and up front with him. Let him know he can be given a fair and honest chance at playing WR but that you know he would be better suited for the defensive side and that you can ultimately move him to that side.

He'll probably see early on that his best opportunity would be on the defensive side and eventually ask to move himself.

'16 OH OLB Jonah Morris (Offer)

'16 OH OLB Jonah Morris (Offer)

I watched him this weekend in his team's state championship game and came away feeling meh. Didn't dominate at all in Ohio's third highest division. He is not plying against the caliber of teams that Kraemer and Eichenberg do. For large stretches of the game I didn't even notice where he was at. Definitely need s a redshirt to gain some strength.

I have an inkling this is the staff slow playing him a bit. Our recruiting board will be very different by the end of January, which is when he is scheduled to visit now. Think he is now in an imposed holding pattern regarding ND till then.

Scout: don't see MSU really involved going forward. If OSU offers he would commit but he's down on the list. May do the same with ND on his visit depending on how things work out prior to that for ND. He's a little nervous about his choices coming down to the end.

His HS coach said ND is recruiting him as an athlete. Actually talked to him about SS/OLB. His coach appreciates Kelly being upfront with Jonah. He does not like the fact Urban Liar keeps telling the kid he can play receiver which the HS coach does not think is true.

Seems to me everybody projects him on Defense yet the kid wants to play WR. I think I heard someone on BGI podcast say that was why he decommitted because MSU wanted him at LB but he feels he is a WR. Weird.

That's true and it was Josh Hemboldt that talked about that. Josh went on to make a point that this kid isn't tough enough to play defense, but has the ability to be a good WR. And recruitniks usually don't rag on a kid, but he literally said he doesn't have the toughness. If one person says that, I don't want him playing defense on my team and IDK that we have a need at WR so I really don't understand this one.

That's right. He did say that Jonah lacked that desire for contact and he just does not seem him playing good defense. Agreed. Not really a want for me. I want the murder train rolling... not the scared of contact train.

Games I have seen him play this year he was always around the ball making plays on defense and offense. He didn't seem to be scared in those games either.

Maybe they're just basing it on the fact that he has a much higher affinity for offense?

“I’ll have an official visit to Ohio State either Jan. 15 or Jan. 16,” Morris said. “And I have one to Notre Dame Jan. 22. That’s all right now.”

Morris at one time was a Michigan State commitment before he de-committed in November. He says the Spartans are still showing interest, but not as much now as the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish.

“Notre Dame is recruiting me as a safety,” Morris said. “Ohio State is recruiting me as a wide receiver. Either one is OK with me.”

well if Ohio state wants him then we have to get him.

Dunno ....IF he wants to play LB maybe. IF then Irish do indeed get McKinley at WR, then I just don't see the WR position in the fold for Mr. Morris @ ND. And IF the Irish do land the likes of McKinley, Kelly, Jones, etc. would there even be room for him at the Irish inn even as a LB?

Kelly has told him he will ply Defense at ND. They project him as a hybrid OLB Safety type

I do know his coach appreciates ND being nothing but honest with the kid while Urban has not been. Problem is two of his Junior teammates have already committed to the Suckeyes.

We have so many DBs and have allegedly turned Hamlin down. I don't really for this recruit being part of our class, especially with the allegations (per Josh Hemboldt) that he doesn't like to hit people. I say keep him around and I like the very late visit in case we have a defection (unlikely), but pass.

Now watch him become an AA for the buckeyes.

Who is alleging ND turned Hamlin down?
