Verbals to MSU last week, 1-28-15


Obviously he is a secondary mate of Crawford's. Was there any talk in the last year about him? The only thing I found on the board was this quote from 2013:

2015 Ohio athlete David Dowell said he was getting about 20 a day last week.
“It means a lot,” said Dowell, who has an early offer from Tennessee among others. “Notre Dame is a historic program, a storied school with a lot of history behind it. If you like big-time football, they’re the school; they’re like on a pedestal, so it’s really big.”

I guess I have to assume the staff didn't like him at all or they thought they had one of the other guys in the bag.

Just wondering if there was any other news about him. Hard to fly under the radar at St. Eddy's.

Nobody knows anything about him?

It doesn't seem odd that a 4 star safety who is a teammate of one of ND's star recruits went un-analyzed by the board?

He committed in the spring. He and his twin brother, Andrew Dowell, committed to Northwestern in April only to decommit in late August and then commit one month later to Kentucky.

The staff knew about him. They probably just had other higher targets in mind. In the spring, staffs usually do. And they were only "available" for about one month before they committed to Kentucky. Probably timing and interest level (from ND staff) are two factors..

I didn't know about the twin brother, hell, I didn't know about David before.

They both flipped again to Michigan State last week. I was surprised the board hadn't brought him up. Seeing a top 20 safety that has said nice things about you in the past, has Northwestern and Vandy in his offer list and has a teammate who's headed to South Bend... in a year of need without the standard what if's and I wonder's that are common on this board was odd to me.
