Not too shabby.

Means nothing. I see a team that lives and dies with the 3, that hasn't played any ranked competition yet, and that doesn't move the ball very well on the half court. In little words, this isn't a well coached team. NEST Saturday, against Marquette will tell the story.

i thought last year's team lived on the 3 more than this year's. if Harangody continues to elevate his game, the inside game will match the shooting.

Ouch. Harsh words but true im afraid. I agree with you. They won tonight but they almost gave it away. Next saturday will tell the story for sure. We havent played ANYONE and we lost to BAYLOR!!!!! I'm glad they won and are doing well but lets just see how our record is after we play Marquette, Valpo, Syracuse, Louisville, and the Cincy. I'm skeptical at this point.

I know another team that lives and dies by the three. Their name is Duke and they have done good for them selves over the years. kinda

SoCal, I'm VERY concerned with the way this team has been moving the ball on the half court for the past several years. This year is no exception. I think they play well off turnovers, and on occasion, shoot well from the outside. What they do NOT do well is pass the ball crisply and quickly, to unbalance the opposing defense. This is the main distinction between the Sweet Sixteen teams and the guys who go home early. And, so far this year, ND is STILL among the teams that will go home early.

Maybe I'm being too harsh on Brey, but this guy has been there for over 5 years, and this year, he has ONE senior, and SIX freshman on his team. HOW THE HELL do you get a team THIS out of balance? Personally, I thnk he and White both have to go before you see ND compete on the hardcourt with the big boys.

Bull. Duke moves the ball 400% better than ND. They FINISH games with the 3, but score from all over the court.

mbooch, you may be right. I don't know basketball as well as other sports so I can't pick apart their quality of play. my observation was very much surface observations.

SoCal, no worries. Just watch the way the ball moves around the court. It's like in football. You have to attack all areas of a football defense, and you have to move the bal around the half court, fairly rapidly, to play offense in basketball. ND boiunces the ball a lot, and the settles for long shots (like Hail Mary passe in football). When someone is hot Mac was tonight), and the opponents shoot poorly, it works. Against ranked competition, you lose. Like the General, Bob Knight, always told it, it is about getting good shots. MAKING the shots is secondary. That comes and goes. Working for GOOD shots is like good pitching in baseball. It comes to the park every day. Under Brey, ND does NOT work for good shots. They heave and hope.

harangody was horrendous. 5 of like 29 shooting and HE WOULD NOT STOP he must have been swatted like 10 times

I disagree with those who say that this team is one dimensional (only shooting 3's). This is a balanced team, but tonight their inside game was inaffective. They still tried to pound the ball inside to Harangody, which almost cost them the game if it weren't for Kyle's heroics. I still think this team could do very well in the Big East and in the NCAA tournament if they stay healthy. I think today's game would not have been as close if Tory didn't get popped in the face because he was having a great game before that and looked lost afterwards.

I do have to mention that the Irish are in BIG trouble against Georgetown because their Center (Hibbert) is a lot better than the one they faced today and they made the guy today look like Shaq.

we hardly live and die by the 3. we only hit 6 or 7 3s yesterday. 6 coming from Kmac. Harrangody had 29 against West Va about all coming in the paint.

Well, they went something like 4 for 21 from outside today against Marquette, and coughed up 24 TO's. Harangoody got his 29, BUT WE LOST BY 26. This is not the kind of stats you get from a "balanced" attack.
