Even after our amazing win, we managed to be situated with a #11 ranking from the Associated Press. I'm only content with this ranking because we didn't play well enough until the end to jump a few spots, and we didn't play bad enough to drop 4 or 5 spots. So all in all, #11 isn't that bad. Why Michigan is 2, USC 3, and Tennessee 8 bewilders me. scUM struggled as did Tennessee, and USC continues to be the most overrated Top 5 team of all time.

Yikes, This is the third drop after a win this year. Maybe if we win out we can be dropped out of the top25.

I just don't understand how Tenn struggles at home with Alabama, Florida on a bye week moves up. Just opposite we have a bye week and drop give me a break. The voters must all be in the south because they really favor one loss SEC teams.

the ap poll is basically meaningless this year since they have nothing to do with the BcS. it is very apparent that they have a bias against the irish though.

Only someone who didn't watch the game would say Michigan "struggled". What kind of struggling is it when you physically dominate your opponent? When they rush for 40-some yards and get sacked 5 times? At what point was Micihigan seriously in danger of getting beat? That's right: never. The longer the game went on, the better Michigan played.

I hate to tell you guys but we are not a top 10 team.

I know this is ludacris for me to even write such "nonsense" in the board. But Somebody has to say it. WE ARE NOT a top 10 team. So everybody living in ND can do no wrong land needs to come back to earth.
There are AT LEAST 10 better teams than us. AND we are diffinitely not the best one loss team.
I think we should just be happy we are in the top 15.

And I for one hope we do not go to a BCS bowl game this season as we will get crushed and humiliated by UF, UM, OSU, LSU, Clemson, Auburn to name a few.

Lets face it our offense is spotty and our defense is even worse.... WHY exactly do most of you think we deserve to be in the top 10?
No matter how big a ND fan you are you have to admit the above named teams will beat us THIS season.

I gotta agree. I can think of at least 15 teams that I wouldn't like our chances against. I love ND, but we are having waaay too many struggles against teams that a top 10 team should blow out. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled we're pulling them out of the fire, I just don't think we stack up well against the best teams in the country.

I like the fact that California and Nd were both punished for having to endure close calls against teams they should have easily beaten. Clemson should be ahead of Nd, but Auburn is too high. I could endorse Auburn being below Nd, but not Clemson.

I honestly thought the Coach;s polls were against us, and that historically AP has ranked us better...

You are correct on both counts.

Through the years the fans of other teams have repeatedly screamed "East Coast Media Bias" over the AP's ranking of ND particularly when ND beat a higher ranked bowl opponent and jumped in the final poll. Most of those "biased east coast" writers must have died off or retired by this years voting.

Yes they did, particularly with a TB rolling up 31 carries, 140 yds, and a couple of TDs on a "broken foot".

In response to your response, maison bleu, I did watch a good deal of the first half of the scUM-Iowa game. You perceived my post in the wrong way because a "struggle" does not always signify a whole-game struggle. What I should've said was Michigan struggled through 3 quarters. How do you believe I came to this conclusion? Well first off, Michigan was winning 3-0 at the half; a half where Hart was limited to only 27 yards. At the end of the third quarter, Henne had thrown for 1 INT and the score was only 10-6. Michigan fans should be grateful that their defense limited the Hawkeyes to two field goals in the third quarter, rather than two touchdowns. Michigan's offense did not fully come around until the 4th quarter, when for lack of a better term, Iowa started to suck.

You contradicted yourself. You imply that Nd shouldn't be punished after a close call, yet you think USC, us and Tennessee should drop, as if you actually knew who would be higher. I guess you're a West Virginia fan. Lou Holtz will love you writing off USC, as is hoping and saying USC is bad actually makes them vulnerable at home (where they haven't lost in ages) to Nd. Guess that national title dream is still alive.

You're just mad because the writers and coaches have finally seen through this facade that is 2006 Nd football. There is no bias here, the only bias is you feeling angry because the Nd bias has finally worn off.

And your bias against us is obvious. We had one bad game and we still ended up winning by 14. We never trailed Iowa, our defense dominated and there wasn't really a time when anyone felt we would lose the game. Obviously, our offense played horribly, but since you probably didn't bother to watch the game, I assume you hoped that we played poorly.

Right now, I almost want OSU or Michigan to meet Nd in the BCS national title game. That way, when either team blows you out by at least 3 touchdowns, the media will finally stop this Nd fixation, and start treating teams on a level playing field and have guys like you shut your mouth.

BGIF,

Hart doesn't have a "broken foot" He sprained his ankle mildly during the MSU game. It was so mild he could have returned for the game. It's just one of those sprains that you and I suffer on occassion when we run or exercise. Very mild, not serious at all.

Wow, what is the problem here? Why are you Michigan fans so angry? Show me the one sentence where I said Michigan sucked. Go ahead! You won't find it because I NEVER said that. Don't worry there bud, I remember the Notre Dame loss. But just in case you forgot, Notre Dame is a rival of Michigan, so I'm definitely going to exhibit some type of bias towards the Wolverines. And how could I contradict myself? I said I was content with the ranking. That doesn't mean I'm jumping for joy or I'm crying my eyes out that we're #11. Just in case you didn't see it, Notre Dame was punished by dropping a slot. Maybe you guys should re-read what I said to fully understand what I'm trying to point out. If your the Michigan fan you portray to be, then I hope you realize that Michigan struggled yesterday.

hey,you are not telling a lot of us anything we don't already know.pretty much the point is notre dame sux,but there are a lot of other teams who aren't worthy of their ranking either, yet they continue to stay where they are and/or move up when they win !!!!

This is the curse of being the most interesting college football program. People love ND and people HATE ND. If you are a college coach and you see how ND is constantly voted America's most popular college football team, has their own network tv contract, special BCS consideration etc, you can guess which side of the fence they will fall on. Unless ND is a totally dominant team wiping out everyone on their schedule, coaches with an ax to grind will take a shot at them every chance they get. The best part is, if ND wins out, they will still be in a BCS bowl. That could be why coaches are hitting them so hard when they get the slightest chance. They know if ND keeps winning(especially if it is convincingly) they can't keep voting them down without it being too obvious.

The other thing is I'd be willing to bet that SEC coaches are voting them REALLY, REALLY, REALLY low to give their teams a better shot. All those SEC teams are rigth around ND.

What I can't understand is that MSU gets all this praise for coming back and beating Northwestern but when Notre Dame came back to beat MSU they said crap, they got lucky, etc. What the heck?

Here's that damn media darling crap again... It's SOO obvious the media just LOVES us that much more and pumps us up whenever possible... it's so unfair to the rest of the nation!!!... I mean we lose, the media drops us, which can't be helped, but we barely win and the media....

opps.
