Will be a good replacement to make up for the Bernard departure, which sorry to say, he isnt coming back.

What type of high school did he come from? And what was the level of competition he went against?

Think about this, this might not have been the worst thing losing Bernard. Looking at scout, he has a minimum of 2 OL on his high school team that are going D1. More may go to lower division FCS schools. Having guys like that block in front of you can definately boost your stats, but cant help your ability.

Bourbon, has currently on his team, zero D1 lineman. His stats are a little more than that according to scout, and his 40 time, wt, shuttle time, 3cone, and broad jump were all combine results.

Not to mention he runs track, ran 10.4 100m, 22.3 200m, and right under 22ft for long jump. He will only do football in college though. Kellys getting out there and pulling in the athletes fellas. Im excited about our prospect here...... it would be great to steal one back from Stanford after the lueders deal.

Looks like this kid can play. From what I have seen, I think he is better than Gio Bernard, IMHO. Looks like he plays against pretty terrible competition, but he dominates it, so I won't hold that against him. After all, Golden Tate played against a similar level of competition in HS, and he turned out OK.

Does anyone know the last time we have had a white RB? This kid has wheels, he runs the 40 faster than Gio did...

A 10.4 100m and 4.4 40 at his size is pretty damn impressive. Add in good grades and stats, and I think he's more than worthy of a schollie.

Gio was more shifty that straightline.......Gio was a good player but he is Italian......Fragile.....you know?

this kid can play. playing ball in missouri i have the advantage of knowing the type of talent kids play against. this kid reminds me of Montee Ball from Timberland highschool, now at Wisconsin and did pretty decent as a true freshman. they can both go around you, through you, or burn you. they both played about the same talent in highschool. Montee faced many ?'s about his transition to the college field because of the level of talent in missouri. end result is with the athletic ability and their motors, i would love to see this kid play for the irish.. now lets just hope for the best.

Or the NFL for that matter....His athletic stats remind me or zibby or hayseed, which is a mixed bag. Either way, bring in the athleticism, coach them properly, and everything else is gravy.

I don't remember if he's a Skill guy, or a Big Skill Guy. Either way move his butt to safety. Good size and speed for it.

I don't know anything about this kid, but I'm gonna disagree on the level of competion. Its not a very big school and many of the schools that Potosi plays are nowhere near the level of the schools that St. Aquinas plays. As a side note, he is from the same general area as former ND target, Will Compton.

ESPN seems to agree with you.

Bourbon certainly has an impressive combination of size and straight-line speed at the high school level, which has allowed him to dominate his inferior level of competition.

Bernard's 5-9 198, Burbon's 6-2 206 and ESPN notes he's got room to grow.

... tall, thickly-built with broad shoulders; still lean enough to add 10-15 more pounds of bulk while retaining his current speed and athleticism...

The 2009 Nike Football Combine tour continued Sunday just outside of Chicago, where over 800 prospects from 13 states packed the seventh combine of the year. At the end of the day, a new name from the Show Me State had set a new high SPARQ rating for this year.
Brandon Bourbon (Potosi, Mo./Potosi) made the six-hour drive to Chicago well worth it. The 6-foot-½, 204-pound running back also probably ensured that many college coaches will be looking up Potosi on the map when they make their rounds to Missouri this spring. He finished with a 127.38 SPARQ rating, topping West Charlotte (N.C.) High product Nigel Johnson's previous high of 121 earlier this spring. Bourbon wowed in all four testing categories, clocking 4.54 seconds in the 40 and 4.08 in the short shuttle, jumping 34.3 inches in the vertical and launching the power ball 45 feet. He finished first in the power ball, second in the 40 and third in the shuttle, which is really amazing considering there were 825 participants Sunday.
Bourbon isn't just a testing standout either because he earned Class 3 second-team all-state honors last fall after rushing 248 times for 2,420 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Also topping 100 on the SPARQ rating was 5-10½, 173-pound Jamison Wilson (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) who finished at 101.94. Wilson clocked a 4.59 in the 40 and 4.23 in the shuttle and had nine sacks last fall as a junior.

Breakdown: The 5-7, 166-pounder is fraternal twin to Antonio, not identical, but amazingly the two posted identical 39-inch vertical jumps.

Breakdown: Byrom improved his SPARQ rating from 53.46 a year ago to 86.34 Sunday.

Breakdown: Bourbon's performance was simply remarkable on Sunday; finished in the top three for three of the four testing elements.
