Let's hope Carrington's commitment is similar to Tai-ler Jones

PL22, you hit the nail on the head. Read this article from ESPN and tell me if you think his committment is firm:

Devon Carrington (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) has decided to end the recruiting process.
"I just committed to Stanford," Carrington said. "I just got off the phone with coach (Jim) Harbaugh and told him I was ready to do this and he was pretty excited about it.
"Stanford was my first offer and they have been the school recruiting me harder than anyone else from the beginning. I really like all their coaches and I like the direction the program is going in. I've always wanted to go to Stanford and lately, I started to think more about life after football and Stanford offers so much in that regard.

"Plus they were starting to fill up their class pretty fast and I didn't want to risk losing my spot. I still want to take some official visits to other schools, but my commitment is firm and I'm excited to be a Cardinal."

Carrington is one of the top safety prospects in the West region and just had an impressive showing at the USC Rising Stars Camp.

"I talked to coach Franklin after the camp and he told me they're going to start recruiting me pretty hard now," Carrington said. "If they decide to offer, they'll definitely be one of the five schools I want to visit.

"Right now, I'm still looking at Notre Dame and Arizona. Notre Dame is a great school and my family and I really like Arizona and Mark Stoops as a defensive backs coach. I had a good time visiting Cal and want to take another trip there and then probably Oregon and ASU would be my last two visits.

"I'll visit Stanford a few more times too and I think it's a great overall fit for me. Academically and athletically, you can't beat Stanford and like I said, I really like coach Harbaugh a lot and I'm excited to play for him."

His commitment is firm, but if USC offers they'll be in his top 5??? His commitment if firm but he'll still take his officials? Hey, he's just a kid, but he sounds a bit confused.

I'm all for kids searching around and doing their due diligence, because this is one of the biggest if not the biggest decisions of their lives. However, I'll never get the 'I'm committing to X and my commitment is solid as they come, but I am going to listen to other schools and I will take my 5 official visits." Well, then that's not a commitment! It's shady, if you ask me, to try and reserve a spot in a school's class, only to change schools and leave the old school shit out of luck.

I really wanted this kid, and it's good for us (and AZ and USC and Cal) that he's taking officials, but it sucks for Stanford, and it sucks when it happens to us (the Littles, Omar, etc)...

Its ok we got badger now. We got a solid safety prospect, now we can focus in on our top 4 prospects and try for another commit.

Confirmed to ISD that isn't coming for the USC game. He just passed admissions to Stanford, so that effectively killed off his recruitment, as he is solid to Stanford.

Fortunately, we already have Badger in the fold, and are the leaders for Amerson, and are in great shape with Parker. Hopefully we can get them as well. Need a big game this weekend (of course). Carrington is going to a great academic school; good for him...

I never understood Carrington committing to Stanford when Badger switched but saying he was interested in ND. He was just keeping an option open if he didn't clear Stanford Admissions.
