For all of those pissed at Ty for not getting Paul Posluszny (he told his brother he would have loved a Notre Dame offer while being recruited), here's what Blue Gray Sky had to say:

Wow. Are you saying we could have had Paul Posluszny at linebacker these last four years? Well, welcome to the hit-and-miss world of college recruiting. While it's convenient (and probably at least partially accurate) to pin this miss on Ty's poor recruiting acumen, keep in mind that Paul was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school, and had roughly the same stock as Irish recruit Nick Borseti at the same time. Neither Michigan nor Ohio State offered Poz, if that makes us feel any better. And what's more, in that same class we picked up our own low-profile, 3-star wide receiver from Valparaiso who turned into a multi-year All-American. Recruiting is like an easter egg hunt; it's a big field, and you're not always going to find the ones with the $100 bill inside.

Wait a minute -- there are hundred dollar bills inside Easter eggs? Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this? Or did I just end up with a half-assed Easter Bunny all those years?

6'2 215lbs is good size for a junior in HS, really good size actually.

I see him being 6'3 225 when he gets to ND and he'll be ready to go :)

That makes sense. He's got a great pedigree, but considering his injury, his size, and there being relatively little film of him playing LB, 3 makes sense for now. Don't be surprised if that gets bumped up to a 4 if he has a good season though.

no matter what it says now the kid will end up a 4 star player but it really doesn't matter where his ranking is. He's alot like his brother and his best years are ahead of him. He will never be that player that has the sexy numbers that recruitniks go gaga for but he ike his brother just always get the job done.

Im glad we're at least discussing Poz. under his own recruiting thread. I don't know why, but it bothers me when people create all new threads to discuss something involving a players recruitment. Like the D Poz. thread discussing his visit to the PSU spring game. If a player visits or commits to a school, put it on his recruiting thread... that is all....

Its kinda interesting to follow recruiting, but I could give a crap whether he is rated 3 or 4 now. He is commited, he wants to go to ND, the numbers mean squat now.

I think I care about the ratings because people go back and reference a kid's history. I think we'd all be forming a lynch mob if his brother Paul was a 5 star kid drooling to go to ND. But the fact is, he was a 3 star recruit, roughly on par with Nick Borseti when it comes to notoriety.

So for me, I too could care less who wins the trumped up and relatively fictitious "recruiting title" from year to year. I'd just rather see what people thought of a kid like David before, and see how much he has or hasn't progressed from that perception. Odd to look at current recruiting from a "historical" perspective, but oh well.

First film on Poz.......majority of them are him playing offense. Maybe 3 plays at LB, you can tell some of the footage is from scrimmages because he only played 4 games his JR. year. He has some good football speed and looks like an athlete on offense. Overall though you don't get to see enough of him on defense at LB to make an informative decision, but from what i saw he looks like a promising talent.

Looks like he'll have an easy transition to outside linebacker.

If his work ethic and character is anything like his brother's, he's going to be an asset off the field as well. Pushing guys in the weight room and practice field, making smart decisions that won't get headlines for the wrong reasons, things like that.

Just thought I'd give Poz some love. Many might not be high on him right now with the posibility of getting Filer and Sabino, but this guy will be a real player. Junior/Senior years he will be a stand out. Working out with an NFL player in the offseason always helps, (his bro). This isn't a real catchy saying, like brother like brother? But I have a feeling that will definately happen. There's some real potential here. Just one question, is he 6'0'' or 6'2''? I've seen both.

--------I think he's accually a solid 6'1..closer to 6'2 than 6'0.

FYI, you linked Alabama's commitment list.

You're right he did. And if you click it, it's interesting to note that Saban has four 4 star defensive ends.

On note with the topic though. My understanding was that Poz was only a 3 star because he was injured his junior year and probably would have been a solid 4 star prospect. If he's anything like his brother, he will be great.

I really think this guy is going to be our best linebacker recruit this year.

That's some high praise considering we have Filer, Flemming, and McDonald, who are all studs. I have no doubts that Poz will be good, but Filer and Flemming just have so much raw ability and potential. However, I repeat, Poz will be a good one.

That's true as well as his inexperience at LB. So far he has mainly played S, and RB.
