I agree, but if any one of the group of Goebel, Agahyere, Johnson, or Lewis-Moore commit, I'm not so sure that ND would continue to leave a schollie available for Forston until NSD unless for some reason, which now seems unlikely, there are still slots available at that time.

Forston participated in an ESPN chat today and one of the questions asked if Notre Dame had a shot and Marcus had this to say...

"Right now, Notre Dame has a good chance, they're paying a lot of attention to me."
-----He also said how he would like to play ina 3-4 system. Thats all I've got, but if anybody has the transcript that would be good.

Brandon(Indianapolis, IN): Hey Marcus, as a Miami fan I'd love to see you give your committment to Randy Shannon and the U today, but just how hard is it sifting through all the mail and call's that you get from the many different schools that are after you? thanks...and please stay home and be a Cane!

Marcus Forston: Right now, I have a lot of letters, so it's not easy to narrow them down. I'm not committed to anyone yet.

-----------What the hell an Indiana "U" fan? what a disgrace...:puke:

i think it was a great discussion

either he didnt open up who is leading for him or we may be tied with Miami

either way i think we have a decent shot at him

This blows my mind. Talk of 5 LBs (Sabino, Filer)? 4 DBs (Brown, McCarthy)? 6 DLs (Forston)?

I have no clue how to project the rest of our recruiting class.

I really like how this kid sounds.

Even if he doesn't go Irish, I'm going to enjoy following him at another college program (hopefully not USC), because he seems like a very intelligent young man and isn't someone loving the spotlight.

That being said, getting him on the defensive line would make this class INSANE (not that it isn't already.)

1 QB
0 RB
3 WR
2 TE
2 OL

That would make 23 ... so would

1 QB
0 RB
2 WR (plus J. Brown)
2 TE
3 OL

... and so would

1 QB
1 RB
2 WR
2 TE
2 OL

Basically I think we'll take whatever talent we can get on the defensive side, and then just let our guys at wideout (Floyd, Butler), RB (Thomas, Williams), and OL jump on the train as it leaves the station. Fifteen defensive commitments would definitely be a LOT, though ...

I agree. I don't understand why people try to guess the numbers we'll take this year or any other year. Yeah, numbers do matter but we don't have to worry about it, the COACHES do. I've got this strange funny feeling they know what they're doing. That's just me tho.

I agree -- everyone seems to be putting us down for three WRs, with Goodman and Floyd seemingly always in the discussion and one of Baldwin or Butler.

Well, if Butler and Baldwin go elsewhere, why not use that scholarship on more talent along the defensive line? Where's the harm in that?

There isn't harm in that.

Honestly though, with the way things are going, I don't think we have any idea how this class will shape up. 22 scholarships? 25? Do we take 4 DBs? 3 WRs? 6 DL? A RB?

A month ago I thought I knew. But now? Not a clue. Sit back and let this thing unfold.

------Yeah a month ago I thought I had the #'s and positions in my head, but now i'm as confused as ever. I don't know if our coaches will stick to the low 20's to leave room for more 5th year Sr.s then Crum and Lambert or not. They know what they are doing and thats always a good thing.

Marcus has a top 3 of the Florida big 3 and continues to talk about Notre Dame, but doesn't include them in his top 3 because he hasn't visited yet, which he knows he'll do. ND's chances are very slim, but a visit is still a good sign. He's not deciding any time soon, so the staff has a lot of time to sway him.

--------I still think the staff is pursuing him because he's deciding on NSD and if one of our final 5 DL de-commit we won't be left with our jocks in our hands. I don't think they'll take a 6th DL thats too many for one year. Weis told Goebel he was taking 5 max DL this year and apparently the staff was higher on Omar Hunter than Forston so I don't think they think Forston is the end all be all of defensive lineman.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ND staff liked Hunter more, he did get more offers than Forston. I don't think that ND will be on Forston very hard though, because that may burn some bridges with the current commits we have (and they're very good remember?). Forston is not a priority but definately somebody to keep in touch with like IK said. Because if someone gets happy feet later on we won't have a bunch of ground to make up with a new prospect.

Yeah, if Forston wants to come to ND, I don't see CW telling him "no", we have our max, and you're SOL. I don't feel overly confident that we'll land him, but I sure as hell wouldn't send him away if he said I want to play in SB.

Go Irish!!!

Weis makes a committment to his committed players just like do to him. Remember Mustain? Yeah he took 5 DL which is what he told them so now is just staying on everyguy to play it smart. It explains why we're still on KLM, Forston, hell we're still on everybody and I don't think we'll take 10 DL because we're still recruiting them. I know everybody gets caught up in recruiting and wants a "5" star but I don't care if he's a 20 star, we have our 5 dominating DL that made their pledge and he didn't so they get rewarded and be a part of something special. I don't think it's fair to the guys who have made their committment and I'm sure the staff when they said "We're taking 5 DL this year" not too long ago, they didn't mean 6.

Completely agree Knight. He would have been a great get, but I don't think CW wants to demonstrate to those that have pulled the trigger already that his word is not good. Plus, ND has some other needs to fill in this class.

Knight is 100% right. If, e.g., we get commitments from Filer, Sabino, Floyd, Baldwin, J. Brown, and Robinson or another OL before NSD, that puts us at 24 total spots. No matter how good Forston is, we can't mortgage the present for the sake of the future (not to mention stick ourselves with unbalanced classes for years down the line). Once the bus is full, it's full.

Doesn't seem that far out to me ... from what I understand we're pretty clearly leading with all of them except perhaps Baldwin.
