I don't think that is a fair assessment of Jeremy. He and his parents are handling the recruitment process, as far as I know, properly. Our class was filling up quickly, there was a bit of a commotion, and when the dust had settled Brown had dropped Notre Dame from his list and Notre Dame had told Sabino that he was their last defensive recruit they want. All in all, I don't think Brown and company have done anything but be class acts in lieu of what may or may not have happened.

Brown is betting his future on how far the school he selects is from his home. Now, if that is the level of his intelligence, ND is better off without him. He brags about the facilities, coaches, and "academics" at Florida. Since he cancelled his trip to ND, what is the basis for comparison. He may want to take a look at how many football players at each of the schools he's considering actually graduate with a meaningful degree before he talks academics.

I don' think that's a very fair opinion. It's still possible to get a good education at many other schools, and if he is really close to his family, friends, chuch, etc. then who can really blame him if he feels more comfortable staying close to home. You have to think about the possiblity that being so far from home might actaully cause a student to perform worse then they would in a enviroment that's more comfortable for them as well.

Maybe we shouldn't have given up hope so soon.

From IUB:

Don't look now but Jeremy Brown is telling at least one ND recruiting site that he is still planning on making his Official Visit to ND on 10/20 for the USC game. We don't know whether he is still invited and the cynic in me is making me suspicious that this might be a ploy on the part of JB to get Urbie to allow him to join the BBQ crew. However, the visit does jibe with a blurb on the Gator Scout site that said that ND was still one of JB's Top 5 which contradicts other articles posted in both Rivals & Scout. If ND is still in his Top 5 then they would have replaced LSU on the Top 5 lists that JB gave to both Rivals & Scout. Also, if he does come to South Bend it will be his last Official Visit. Hopefully we will get some more confirmation as to how legitimate this is.

Here is the tentative Official Visit schedule for JB.

Auburn- 9/1
Georgia- 9/8
Florida- 9/15
UNC- 10/6
ND?- 10/20

More here.

It wouldn't suprise me now if he ends up comming to ND since it looks like ND is all but out of the race for Sabino.

On DD they say he's visiting for the SC game, together with Kenneth Page.

From IK:

Mike Frank said on Power Hour that ND had no spot for Jeremy so they told him to hold off and wait.

I know Jeremy was so gung ho and pro ND that he was a lock to commit on his visit and his dad favored ND as well. Now Jeremy is supposedly saying he could visit for the USC game so that would go against everything Jeremy has told people "ND is out and it's too far", but it wasn't a problem the 4 or 5 months before he suddenly "dropped" ND.

This seems to confirm what was originally rumored. With things slowing down, though, it looks like we do have a spot for him if he wants it.

From IUB:

Jeremy Brown is at it again. Now he is once again saying that he is not visiting ND and that he is only interested in schools in the South. He did an Official with Auburn on 9/1, after which they were his new leader. Then he did an Official at UGA this past weekend and now the Bulldogs are his new leader. This weekend he has an Official in Gainesville, any guesses as to who his new leader will be after this weekend.

He is also saying that he might make his decision after this weekend. I guess that all depends on whether Urbie is ready to accept him or not. If not then he is saying that the only other visit he might make is to UNC on 10/6. Jeremy never even mentions that he was still thinking about visiting ND for the USC game. In fact he mentions that his 5th Official was supposed to be Wisconsin, but that he cancelled that because he wants to stay in the South. It seems that the whole visit to ND for the USC game was probably more Brown's Dad's idea than Jeremy himself, so if this latest info is correct, then it appears that the Jeremy Brown saga is once again over as it pertains to Notre Dame.

Too bad ...
