Great game. We should play each other every year.

    2022 Week 1 Prediction Poll: (5) Notre Dame @ (2) Ohio State

I think Ohio State will win, but I don’t think it will be a blowout. It’s hard to judge the first game for everyone. I’m going with the Buckeyes by 7. No matter the outcome, let’s get this series renewed as soon as possible!

Can’t wait for the atmosphere of this game! It needs to be played more often whether ND joins the B1G or not.

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

According to this Tweet, the B1G media rights contract contains language that specifically says how much the B1G contract will increase if Notre Dame joins the conference. If true, this means that all parties know the exact number ND will bring to the B1G.

https://barrettsportsmedia.com/2022/08/19/amazon-was-willing-to-pay-more-than-cbs-and-nbc-for-big-ten-rights/amp/ Interesting. Amazon offered more money than NBC and CBS to have exclusive rights to the 3:30pm game. This would have meant that top tier game would be available on streaming only.

Do you think the B1G will add all four of Stanford, Cal, Washington and Oregon? Only 2 of the 4? And then plunder the ACC in the next decade.

Starting next year the three primary Saturday Big Ten partners will also be the three Sunday NFL partners. If each network promotes their next B1G game twice in their Sunday NFL games, that’s over 150 million promo impressions for the B1G every NFL Sunday.

I don’t believe the media rights contract includes revenue sharing from BTN either. BTN will now be on basic cable in California starting in 2024.

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

A few points with the B1G numbers: - This is a seven year deal. The first year will have lower payouts for two reasons: 1. USC and UCLA do not join until the second year of this contract. They only account for six of the seven years of the agreement. 2. CBS will not broadcast as many B1G...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

https://www.si.com/.amp/college/2022/08/18/kevin-warren-big-ten-media-deal-fox-cbs-nbc Without further expansion, the B1G deal averages $1.24 billion per year. The SEC deal with ESPN is $300 million per year. And the B1G will go out to bid again before the SEC does. I wonder if SEC teams...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaab/big-ten-historic-media-rights-deal-expansion The contract includes an escalator clause, meaning the deal could approach nearly $10 billion if the Big Ten’s membership increases, network sources said. Even after adding USC and UCLA, the Big Ten “is not done”...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

Something else I’ve been thinking about…. The B1G has yet to announce its next media rights deal, even though the players were announced last week: FOX, NBC, CBS, Apple. Why hasn’t the B1G officially announced its next contract? Do you think there is a push to add more schools now that ND is...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

Not all 14 (now 16) teams have high ratings, but let me give you an example…. Last season, Purdue @ Iowa was the third most watched game of the week the week the game was played. There is interest in the B1G games even when a matchup isn’t sexy. If you look at the weekly ratings, the B1G and...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

Interesting that NBC wants more higher rated ND games to justify paying ND more money. The ACC games for ND aren’t as highly watched as ND vs. B1G games. I would love to see ND in the B1G, personally. I don’t think ND needs the B1G and I don’t think the B1G needs ND. I do think it would be...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

$60 million a year won’t keep pace with the B1G and SEC media contracts. I wonder if this is a temporary solution until we are closer to the end of the ACC GOR timeline? If ND will now schedule more B1G teams and you add that to playing 5 ACC games a year, that isn’t really an independent...

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

Latest numbers floating around on the internet say the B1G media rights deal could reach $1.5 billion per year. This is just the media rights, not counting CFP revenue, NCAA basketball tournament revenue or any other revenue. I wonder how much that would increase with Notre Dame as a member?

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

Assuming the B1G, ND, FOX and NBC are negotiating for ND to join the B1G, what do you see as a fair final agreement for ND to join?

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

I saw this posted on another website. I’m not sure how valid it is, as I wonder how the poster knows the value of the new B1G contract at this time? Or, how much a new ND NBC contract would pay out? Still, it does make the case we are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars over time.

Notre Dame to the B1G Conference?

If ND joined the SEC, that would essentially eliminate playing all former rivals. I think we are going to see a ten game conference schedule in these super conferences just to help maintain a somewhat consistent schedule of playing all conference opponents on a somewhat regular basis. Remember...
