It absolutely has to. With the number of key players they're going to lose (Carr, Traore, Bowen, Moore, Gray, Shuler, potentially Tae Johnson), they're going to have to go big-game hunting in the portal for multiple spots.

As things stand right now, I'd say no. I think the offense won't be as good - RB and WR won't be as good, and I have questions about the Offensive Line. Assuming they move Lambert to Right Tackle, the Guard situation is kind of scary. Absher isn't anything special and Jagusah can't stay healthy...

He did a good job with the recruiting class, but I really don't think you can leave him in charge of the portal. Martin might be better off just focusing on HS prospects.

Just to play devil's advocate, what would stop Freeman from saying the following? "Look, our current depth chart at Defensive Tackle is garbage. We need quality players even if it's an overpay or we're going to be in rough shape. Just make it happen."
