Is ND really pursuing National Championships?

True, but Swinney took a lot longer to get to that elite level. Similar to Freeman, he didn't have the roadmap and there were a lot more stumbles in figuring out how to get there. People seem to forget that before those championship teams he had 6 seasons of going 9-5, 6-7, 10-4, 11-2, 11-2...

Is ND really pursuing National Championships?

Agreed. The big difference is Day, Smart, and Riley got to learn from arguably the three best modern-day coaches. Freeman learned from Fickell and BK - both of whom I think are very good coaches. I've always felt that has been the biggest factor in those guy's immediate success vs. Freeman's...

‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

Fwiw he had 6 catch - 157 yard game against Arkansas. He also was on a 4-8 team where he had almost 3x the yards of the next closest receiver - so while I can't claim to have watched any FIU games, I imagine opposing defenses were focused on stopping him

Piggybacking off this - I graduated from A&M in 2014. Will be at the game in all Irish gear. Forkbeard's assessment is pretty spot on. A&M fans take their traditions very seriously, and aren't particularly well humored about them. But if you're respectful about them, they'll be very friendly.

'25 NV WR Derek Meadows (Alabama Verbal)

No need to! This site scrapes the data from 247 for historical recruiting rankings. I believe it uses 247's ranks, not the composite though. Here's positional rankings from 2010-2024: CollegeFootballData.com ND has actually recruited surprisingly well at the receiver position....

Sam Assaf - I believe he's a walk on for lacrosse as well

Yep. I graduated from A&M in 2014. Being in the corps there is definitely a full on lifestyle choice.

That's the Corps of Cadets you're seeing - student military, Army ROTC group. There's about 2,500 of them and they're generally the rowdiest of the student population, so they get seated closest to the field and show up on TV the most.

'22 OH OT Aamil Wagner (Notre Dame Signee)

Interesting tidbit on Wagner from Sampson's morning article on the O-line spring battles: Sampson notes Wagner has a crazy high metabolism that prevents him from putting on weight as fast as he'd like. Says Wagner is consuming 8,000 calories a day to put on weight. I know there's been a lot...

'19 MD WR Cam Hart (Notre Dame Signee)

Ran a 4.5 flat at the combine today. Pretty good for his size. A lot of smaller guys like Terrion Arnold and Kalen King ran slower

    Michigan going after Chad Bowden..

The only connection to Michigan is a year working with Mike Elston, who I can't imagine would be trying to convince Bowden to come, given he himself is the current recruiting coordinator. Meanwhile, Bowden's entire time in college football has been working as a student intern, QC, and then...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

A lot of our guys went up in 247s grade even though some of their spots in the rankings dropped Carr 96 ->97 KVA 94 -> 97 Lambert 94 -> 95 Young 93 -> 94

What video game are you playing?

I guess we'll see. I agree that expectations should be low, especially for on-field gameplay. But my favorite part of the NCAA games was always Dynasty mode. If they add in elements like NIL budgets + the transfer portal to the recruiting landscape they had in the earlier games, I will be happy...

New OC - throw out some names/statistical anomalies

Pete Sampson published his 7 names to know article this morning Home Run - Denbrock The Al Goldens - Candle , Moorhead Next Big Things - Moore , Weis Jr In House - Gino And then lists Kevin John's as a wildcard Worth noting last year in his "8 candidates to replace Rees" article he listed...

New OC - throw out some names/statistical anomalies

Figured I'd add to this since he seems to be more unknown than the rest of the names on this list. He's had a pretty solid track record at previous stops as well. Decent work at MTSU from '11-'15, having them around the top of the conference and hovering between 40-60th in national offense (on...

    2024 ND Projected Depth Chart

I wouldn't be surprised if they have Oben play Viper and Traore start at SDE. From what we saw of Traore, I suspect come next season that will be how we get our 4 best DL on the field

‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

You've gotta be able to read the signs too. Leonard has followed more ND people on Instagram than any other possible transfer, and started connecting with possible transfers before interest was even reported. It seems like he's actively recruiting for ND. What would be the point of doing all...
