    Mike Mickens ND CB’s Coach

Um were you here during Transfer Portal Week, when the program was about to turn to ash if we didn't immediately land some defensive tackle none of us knew existed 48 hours prior?

Notre Dame Hires Loren Landow as Director of Football Performance

Sure. Just seems like Oakland is, um, dubious job security. And he has a very good job at Notre Dame, probably for as long as Freeman is there, at which point if Landow wants to go back to the NFL, he'll probably have an in with his current boss.

Notre Dame Hires Loren Landow as Director of Football Performance

It looks like Kubiak is most seriously a candidate for the Raiders. Why would you leave Notre Dame to go work for the Raiders? Maybe he should talk with Del McCullough first.

Deland McCullough - RB Coach (2022-2024)

Yeah. The word at the time was he had seen, under Eric Bienemy, how hard it was to climb to the HC level in the NFL, so he went back to college to position himself to run his own program someday. (also wouldn't be surprised if his kids being/approaching college was a factor too). But I do...

ND's Talking Heads ... The good, bad & ugly

That'd be great but it would probably be hard to get more than one permanent opponent, which should be USC. Hopefully we could get Michigan and Sparty on some sort of more frequent rotation, at least. But part of the fun of playing more Big Ten would be games against teams like Penn State...

ND's Talking Heads ... The good, bad & ugly

Yeah, Dochterman covers Iowa and the Big Ten for them and has for a long time. I would presume he has pretty good sources around the conference. A six-game package with the Big Ten would be so much preferable to our deal with the ACC. Especially if we keep the 10-year deal with Clemson (which...

    General team info

It's true we lose five of our six most productive offensive skill players (Faison being the one returning), and they were all good, but except for Love and maybe Price none of them are so much better than what's coming up behind them. Turnover is a fact of life in college football. It'll be fine.

    Coaching Carousel

I don't follow the Bills all that closely but why would you fire a successful longstanding coach and then simply promote his offensive coordinator?
  9. stlnd01

    General team info

Seriously. His team has never made the CFP, has one top 10 finish in the last decade, hasn't won more than six games since 2019 and Notre Dame's the one that "hasn't been relevant in years." OK.

The last 20 seconds would have been sufficient.

    Looking Ahead to 2026

Agree it's pretty soft but Michigan and USC will probably both be substantially better than anyone Texas Tech plays.

'21 LA RB Logan Diggs (Notre Dame --> LSU Transfer)

Looks like he was their #2 RB this year behind Kewan Lacy. Appeared in every game, but had just 33 carries, so probably some special teams work as well. Seems like anyone with a pulse from a good team can get at least a training camp invite, and Diggs has been playing college football for a...

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Yep. 1: It's just something to talk about - as if the ongoing portal shenanigans wasn't enough, but that's all a little too complicated for the TV yell-fests. 2: To the point it is intentional by those who actually know better, it's to seed the ground for another mid fifth-place SEC or B1G...

The Optimal Notre Dame Scheduling Model

That would make sense. Looks like SEC play starts that weekend (LSU visits Ole Miss. Spicy!) but the Big Ten will mostly still be gorging on creampuffs. Us vs. Sparty might be one of their best options, TV-wise.

College Athletics Branding - Name Image Likeness Rules

No and none. And if the NBA is any guide, it won't be brands you care about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NBA_jersey_sponsors

    2026 Transfer Portal - General

Yep. At best he feels like a replacement-level starter. One of the guys who cycle through the bottom third of NFL QB jobs all the time. I'm not sure why you wouldn't just hire one of those guys - there's plenty around - and use the #1 pick on someone who'll actually make your team better. I...

    2026 Transfer Portal - General

Yep. If this chain of events is correct, it's bullshit. Once a guy signs with and enrolls at a school and starts taking classes and all that, it should be game over. At the very least...

    How to fix College Football?

Fun fact: The bowl currently known as the Pop-Tarts Bowl has had 10 different names in its existence, which only began in 1990. The non-CFP bowls are toast. And it's fine. Too bad for ESPN and their holiday sports inventory, but they had a big hand in creating this system.
