This is where you are in la-la-land.
I actually agree with the primary point you made. If you read prior threads, you will find almost universal consensus that A) the committee screwed ND this year and B) we had to win one of those first two games this year (see preseason threads).
However...
In most ways, I do not disagree with the above. That said, if you are ND administration, how would you view your partnership with the ACC moving forward?
If we could accelerate the collapse of the ACC on an faster timeline then some interesting options could be added to the table. I’m thinking we could maybe form an independent alliance of ex-ACC premier programs and sister institutions (Miami, FSU, Clemson?) and pull them into an NBC style...
If Duke wins and we assume that ESPN mandates Bama is in, then I think it’s more likely that JMU gets screwed than us. Meaning they make up some bullshit to rank Duke at 21-23 and get in.
No chance ND gets left out.
What should happen: ND and Miami both in. Dogshit Bama out.
What will happen: ND and Bama swap positions. Preserve buffer against Miami.
This is bullshit. We set our schedule ten years in advance which means SOS is basically luck.
USC, TAMU, Miami, Arkansas, Boise, Pitt, Stanford, and Navy are all quality programs that have seen major success in the recent past.
