Awesome in IMAX. Even if you're a casual fan or just know a couple of the mainstream songs, this is worth going to see on the big screen. It's a lot of live concert footage as opposed to behind the scenes stuff.
I would have liked more rehearsal footage, but otherwise, 4/4 stars. Two Thumbs Up.

Just watched The Last of the Mohicans for the first time. I think I respect it more than liked it. DDL is a magnet on screen. Reading behind the scenes stories about him is one of my favorite hobbies. The guy is an absolute maniac in the best way

Absolutely insane by Michael Mann to follow up this movie with Heat, which tends to overshadow Mohicans.

It does, and for good reason. It influenced the Dark Knight, The Town, Triple 9 and other films. Thirty years later, it still holds up.
Pacino and DeNiro being on screen together for the first time makes this movie on it's own, and the downtown bank robbery scene, but it is overall really really good from start to finish. Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore's were great in supporting roles.

I don't mean to diminish Heat, but rather want to give The Last of the Mohicans its due, it's a great adaptation and epic from a very underrepresented piece of history. Plus Wes Studi plays an excellent villain

Understood. Heat was a blockbuster at the time due to the cast. You can see how it overshadowed LOTM.

I watched "The Thing" recently. Great movie, the practical effects hold up incredibly well. I noticed on this re-watch is that it's hard to tell how much time passes. The 2nd half of the movie is so tense it seems like it takes place over 1-2 days but there are clues that it's more like several weeks, maybe months.
I'd say it's John Carpenter's best film, with "Halloween" and "Escape From New York" filling out the top three. It's too bad he peaked so early. He put out only four more truly good films after this: "Christine" "Starman" "Big Trouble in Little China" and "They Live." A good run from '77 to '89 but after that it went south and never recovered.

The Thing, for me, may be one of the more oddly overrated films ever... I have seen it pretty regularly referred to as one of the greatest movies ever made... Greatest horror movie ever etc., Stuff like that, and I'm here like... It's 'good'. That's about as far as I'll go with it. The fans of that movie are like a cult with it.

Infernal Affairs - Hong Kong movie that served as the inspiration for The Departed. Very good, though I think the Scorsese version has better in terms of the ending and the direction/look of the movie.

My daughter is doing a Footloose dance for a friend's quinceañera in a few weeks... and she's never seen the movie so we watched it last night. Such an odd time-capsule movie, and goodness, the female lead is one of the worst love-interest characters in movie history. I told her it wasn't a great movie but she was still not ready for what it was lol
