Niles Morgan the last Mt Carmel kid we got?
Actually, Houston Griffith (2018 recruiting class) was the last who had attended Mt Carmel...but Griffith transferred & finished at IMG before coming to ND.

So yes, Steve Filer (2008 ckass) was the most recent Mt Carmel grad

The best ever ND recruit from Mt Carmel ? = Zigmont Czarobski in Leahy's 1st recruiting class of 1941

Nyles Morgan attended Crete Monee (2014 class)

I wonder how much Nyles makes playing in the CFL? Grok says average salaries are 68-95k annually. I understand that can be good money for a person, but I’m not sure the risk of injury is worth that squeeze as you approach 30.

I like the way the LB picture is looking now. With Irvin already on board and Igwebuike on deck, the staff can go all in on Henderson. If they don't get Henderson, they can pivot to Fox as the 3rd LB.

ND has been working hard to get back in this one under BSM. Henderson, Igwebuike and Fox are being targeted aggressively by ND's entire recruiting operation in a bid to pair thrm with Irvin in this class.

There is no way they take all 4 though, right? Henderson is a take no matter what, but with the Nickel package being the base package now, do they need 4 LBs in a single class?

Yeah I don't see how they can take all 4. Shame b/c I really like all 4 and think they all bring different skillsets to the table.

Of course not. They're looking to land one of Igwebuike, Henderson or Fox. My understanding is that if one of Igwebuike or Fox were to commit first, and Henderson wanted on board, they'd take Henderson because he's too good to pass up and be on with taking three. Two is the target though.

We are light on LB numbers, several could leave after this year, and last year's class didn't exactly light the world on fire. The plan should be to just take 3.

Comes down to money. If you can get 5-6 stud DL in this class, but it's at the cost of a 3rd LB, most people would jump all over that idea. If ND can make it work financially, they'll probably take 3, but none of the guys they're pursuing are going to come on the super cheap. Their base defense is also nickel, therefore, they play the overwhelming number of their snaps against non-triple option teams in two linebacker sets.

Among the the top LB's in 2026, you likely get 1 of them back in 2027 (Ausberry). KVA's decision will likely depend on his health and production coming off the ACL. Faraimo will return and be looking to be an impact starter. The staff is high on Ko'o Kia, who has plenty of eligibility. Teddy Rezac is also going to get a long look on special teams this year as well and is apparently very smart and thought to be a year away from contributing on the defense. Thomas Davis Jr is going to be a player down the road. Already standing out as a freshman who is simply buried right now. We'll have to see what Ja'Kobe Clapper brings to the table when healthy.

With 6-7 LBs likely to return next year, landing two is probably the baseline this year and the staff probably takes a 3rd if it's the right guy and the money is in the budget.

Could lose Sneed, Bowen, KVA and Ausberry to the draft. And ND hasn’t exactly been lighting it up in LB recruiting the last couple cycles. May be the shakiest position group on the team next year.

You have to remember that the Portal (through tampering, reffered to as "back channeling) is a recruiting of it's own. Notre Dame isn't going to over recruit a position outside of high school unless the prospects they're capable of landing at said position are too good to say "no" to. Instead, if they find themselves short a stud linebacker a couple years from now, they'll simply take somebody else's that has already been developed. Therefore, if you have Irvin and let's say Igwebuike in the class and you're happy with those two but Henderson wants in, you say "of course"... But you don't just take 3 guys unless that 3rd guy has significant roster upgrading talent.
