Don't read if you're anti-nerd - Carr series, not every play, after rewatch IMHO:

1st Series
- 3rd and 2 - Wham. Otting really walls of T. Gray and Flanagan stones LB. 1st Down.
- 2nd and 5 - Deep ball to Gilbert broken up by Sanders. Nice late hands. Really clean pocket - Black stones Keeley, Otting/Knapp pass of Hughes/Brewu stunt. C. Gray in stride with Graham on Cross.
- 3rd and 5. Another solid pocket. Seemed like a bad throw by CJ on a curl which should be inside, not outside to Gilbert.

2nd Series
- 2nd and 6 - Brewu stones and sheds Absher for no gain
- 3rd and 5 - another solid pocket, curl to Gilbert again. On target but Sanders is sticky - PBU.
- 2 and 10 - Mukam easily gets off Absher. No gain.
- 3rd and 9 backed into endzone - Someone beats Augustine, throw has to come out quick, Sanders all over Williams makes it a throwaway.

3rd Series
- 1 and 10 - Shuler knows the play too well pre-snap and blows up toss before it even happens. Tae does the same on drive later.
- 1 and 10 - Another wham. Flanagan helps Knapp on T. Gray enough. Sneed is too slow to diagnose giving ample time for Flanagan to get both. 7 yard gain.
- 2 and 3. Sneed nice zone drop covers Gilbert and then tackles check down to RB for nothing.
- 4 and 2 - Finally go to Faison. Thud but probably makes Zackery miss tackle for first down and more.
- 1 and 10 - IZ and C. Gray is coming on a blitz. They call it dead for 4. Not sure he makes that tackle on Williams cut back, ton of space if missed.
- 2 and 6 - Brewu again destroys Absher. Give them 4.
- 3 and 2 - Williams hits hole quickly. Otting and Knapp big whole v T. Gray and Young

4th Series
- 1 and 10 - Ref called hold on Augustine vs Thomas. Debatable. Beat him, lunged, but didn’t seem egregious and Carr checked it down in time before sack
- 1 and 20 - now Thomas beats him clean for sack
- 2 and 30 - Dunham whips Black. Graham gets loose against Sanders in zone and YAC. Sanders does not look like a nickel.
- 3 and 20 - laser on the hands to Washington between the zone. INT off his hands by Sneed

Some non-obvious from first watch takeaways: Absher was not good in the run game, Knapp was good all day, pass protection as a whole was pretty good though obviously not too exotic. T. Gray plays a bit too tall.

Btw that field goal with no rush cleared the goal post with two yards to spare on a 43 yard field goal. Nothing to write home about.

Spring game is obselete, I don't know if it was ever worth while. Might as well do combine drills or bring back the alumni team.
And yet 45,000 people showed up to watch it.
IDK. It has always been a practice, and not the one where the real work of spring ball takes place. Is it any more or less obsolete than it has ever been?

It's the spring game, but seeing Dunham's nose for the football and the sheer size of Tionne Gray has me extremely excited for this defensive line. I expected Dunham to just be a situational passrusher this year, but you can tell he's going to be a hit and will be ready to contribute in the 2 deep. The depth on the DL is just unlike anything we've seen at ND in years.

The depth should allow them to be dominant in the 4th

He doesn’t look like he has any juice at all out there

Hopefully he can defend the run. But we basically just completed the spring and not once did Keeley flash.
I actually thought he popped several times yesterday but im no expert

Some names I didn’t hear much yesterday Burgess? Golden DT?
Interesting they kinda made it seem like Mukam is improving a ton and making a name for himself

This and Dunham is gonna be hard to keep off the field, Young better step up and Keeley or Dunham will be playing a lot

  • Sneed is out for revenge this year
  • Dunham is going to give opposing o-line fits this year
  • Sanders will be a nice gain this year
  • We will have to be patient with Keeley he will be a rotational guy, but summer/fall camps will be important for him
  • I didn't expect Aneyas to play, but I saw enough
  • Walton could easily be RB2
  • ND has a kicker
  • Overall the defense was more impressive than the offense
Go Irish!

I agree in the sense that his athleticsm flashed when I focused on him. Not sure how great he is in run support. He seems like the exact opposite of Burnham.
Speaking of Burnham, I don't know why he left for Indiana as opposed to sticking around. Indiana brought in 2 other Defensive Ends from the portal and there's no guarantee that he will start.

Yeah in limited reps Nolan James didn’t show me much that says he should be above Jonaz. Jonaz also compliments Aneyas in a way Nolan doesn’t with his home run ability.

James gets all the hype from the staff, but he hasn't made much happen yet in televised carries. Williams is going to have a big year.
