If Carr has similar numbers to Mendoza, I won’t be mad. We aren’t gonna be an air raid scheme where we air that hoe out 40+. MF and Denbrock will run the ball to establish the mental aspect and prepare us for the playoffs

I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple guys break out with 6+ touchdowns this year.
CJ is going to throw 40+.

I do not want CJ throwing forty times a game
would be happy with around 30 since that would mean our running game is doing well
we have been spoiled rotten with Love and Price; no way can we expect our running game to be close to that
but we still need to run it very well to get the success we want
and do NOT GET PASS HAPPY

I think he was saying 40+ TDs not attempts per game

Carr is our best player on offense, and this is the best group of receivers in a long ass time. I would like the ball to be in his hands.

I assumed jimmy meant attempts per game.

I assumed he meant TDs because he was discussing multiple guys having 6+ TDs.

And just food for thought, if we think Carr has a breakout championship, Heisman level campaign...

Heisman winning QBs:
2025 - Mendoza 41 TD
2023 - Daniels 40 TD
2022 - Williams 42 TD
2021 - Young 47 TD
2019 - Burrow 60 TD (author's note, fuckin lol)

With our 12 game slate plus 2 playoff games minimum, averaging nearly 3 TDs a game isn't exactly insane. I think CJ is more likely not to get to 40 because he isn't playing a lot of 4th quarters. But a fair amount of those long TDs Love and Price scored the last 2 years will be 35 yard runs rather than 60 yard TDs this year. No offense to the current backs but those 2 were simply at another level.

Need a good running game but the days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust are antiquated. Explosives plays on offense and havoc plays on defense are much better indicators of team success than rushing yards per game.

If he is going to post in public he needs to get used to getting worked for stupid posts
Yeah, I was impressed with how you handled getting worked for your stupid posts last season when you called people all sort of nasty names for doubting that ND was in the play offs with a 10-2 record.

IF the back room deal had not happened we would have been in
but then tools like you never think about that
actually I doubt you can think at all

I knew about the back room deal in advance.
It is really naive and kind of simpleton of you not to have known.

What’s pretty wild is it’s been 6 seasons since Chase Claypool left and we really haven’t had much in the way of big WR production during that stretch. The best season of the 6 was Kevin Austin’s 888 and 7 in 2021.

My hot take is Mylan Graham beats those numbers. He’s got the talent and the QB to do it.
It's 2026. Somehow Mylan Graham and Keon Keeley are on ND's roster. For some of us, these two represented a new chapter in the caliber of player ND could attract, retain and empower to bring Freeman's vision to fruition.

If they go virtually any other school other than the premier school at their respective positions, they don't end up here as they likely become starters.

What a wild fucking time to be alive boys.

Agree. When ND went toe to toe v. Ohio St and landed Porter and Graham I knew that the program had reached a new level of recruiting. These are battles that weren't won before and likely not even attempted. Getting both was fearless, big boy recruiting while making things work with NIL and transfer policy. Hope this type of recruiting continues.

This is the year. I can feel it. I never feel it. But I can feel it.
For those of you that have been fans for at least 30 years...tell me when was the last preseason where you legitimately felt not only optimism, but legitimate confidence, that ND would either contend for the ship or win the ship? For me, I was young and naive and felt 2005 and 2006 were the years with Brady Quinn. Back then it was just optimism, not confidence.

This preseason just feels different. How much do I put on the futures bet for CFP Champions?

I remember feeling that way the morning before the first game of my freshman year at Notre Dame. We were definitely winning a national championship, if perhaps not that season than at least once before we graduated. It was September of 1997...

"There are three things that can happen when you throw the ball and two of them aren't good," Woody Hayes

Yet, when you have an elite QB the percentages one of the two bad things happening isn't that good. Say it with me. We have an elite QB.
