Love and Price were generational. That said, a better OL in the upcoming season will allow us to finish fourth and one's... Too many times last season the OL didn't give our RB's the opportunity to get a first down.

The lack of a legit running threat at QB will still leave us vulnerable on 3rd and 4th and shorts. Teams are too good now to just spread out and try to run down their throat on those situations. Teams will blitz and play zero to stop the run. Granted that opens up the possibility of risk/reward scenarios if we can win 1 on 1's. That will help more in those situations than a big OL.

This is last year's stat line for Rushing... If they put up better numbers than this (in 12 games) I will be extremely surprised.

Attempts Yards AVG Long TDs
4292,4415.79438
I think it'll be hard to top the average or long run, but I think the run game should be able to top the total yardage fairly easily simply due to likely having a few more games to do it.

Hence why I said over 12 games.

Lol I live like a 10 min walk from this field in Hoboken.

I really wouldnt be surprised if he's RB1, I think hes a more natural RB then Aneyas, just doesnt have 4.4 speed.
If the O line is very good, the RB doesn't need 4.4 speed.

See: Josh Adams

I've always gotten Kyren Williams vibes from James. A little lower-rated as a recruit because he doesn't have elite tools, but a very very good high school football player who can do all the things you need an RB to do to help you win. If he contains anywhere near the dawg in Kyren, we'll be just fine.

With the expanded rosters, I just dont understand why teams dont have a designated short yardage QB. Just stash someone like the Belldozer or any of the Navy QB's as the 100's player on the roster and let them come in on 3rd and short yardage only. In my mind, this makes much more sense than running the wildcat.

Does 4.48 count as 4.4 or are we rounding up, because that's what Adams ran, and he was fast as hell once he got moving.
NFL guys are gonna call that a 4.5, but Josh didn't last long at all in the NFL and my point was the O line made him look like a Heisman running back. Not trying to slight Josh Adams but put him behind the 2023 or 2024 O line and his numbers drop big time.

I think the problem for Josh is that the 4.5 preceded him. The NFL guys can be too analytical at times. He was successful those 5 starts for the Eagles he had. He was successful in the limited time with the Jets. But I think NFL guys get too hung up on "things," which results in someone being cast aside. No way Josh couldn't have worked as a backup RB for longer than 4 years outside of the fact that he wasn't someone execs fell in love with in the beginning.

Adam’s wasn’t a good receiver and he was pretty inconsistent as a pass blocker. He was an acceptable runner.

There were far too many other options at RB that were better receivers and pass blockers for him to stick.

Precisely, because he was pretty good in Philly but never showcased the versatility as a receiver in the league.

I thought it at the time but now it’s probably safe to say, CJ Prosise and Josh Adams were overrated by ND fans and I think the NFL showed that.

Combining them both across entire career they didn’t eclipse 1,000 yards.

Wasn’t Prosise always injured at Seattle? Seems like he showed promise early but just couldn’t get healthy.

Correct, very good and extremely versatile but several high-ankle sprains, a broken scapula, broken arm, abdominal surgery, hip injuries, hamstring issues, and a groin pull will end your career quicker than you think.

Let me direct your attention to this video... around the 1:25 mark.

I have more confidence in Aneyas to gain a yard in that circumstance more than any ND back we’ve had since Robert Hughes.

JD was great, Love was generational, Kyren was great, Dexter Williams was even great as a senior. To me CJ and Adams at their peak were always a tier below those guys IMO.
Promise was better than Williams and more talented than Adams. The only thing that ever stopped him from legit success and longevity was the injuries and not being able to stay on the field. I believe he was around 1400yds from scrimmage and 8.0yds a touch in only 10 games as a RS JR.

Yep. Adams and Prosise were excellent compared with what came before them, not quite as good as most of what came after. (A high bar. I’d include Estime though.)
