Was bored this week so I figured out how to create cut ups of games. Thought I'd share the ones I've done so far.

Notre Dame Offense vs USC Defense 2011 - YouTube

One observation I would like to point out, is in the USC game our offensive line did just fine and our defensive line did fine. USC used a large amount of playaction to throw off our linebackers, and Barkley being able to "juke" people out breaks my heart every time.

Always love compilations like this. But the frame rate is pretty distracting.

Awesome! Any way you can do it with better frame rate/quality?

I'll mess around with the quality in future games, and if it works well enough I'll go back and redo these.

SWEET! Thanks for the cutups! The only every-down highlights of games I have access to from this past year is the Michigan game (some Michigan fan makes them). I'm glad I have these to look at and wonder about now.

And if you ever have the time to make more of these, it will be greatly appreciated!

Very nice work, even if the quality is a little dodgy.

Just watched the FSU offense video. How the hell did we lose that game? Aside from that horrid interception, Hendrix looked good operating against that defense. He remains my starter of choice.

The defensive cut ups should answer your question. They employed alot of screens in the second half to stop our blitz and to hinder our rushers. The Michigan State game is my favorite offensive game this past year, several of the opening drives perfectly exemplified (in my opinion) what BK's offense was trying to do. They'd run, run, throw quick slants, throw a shallow, run run, screen, and when the defense cheats on the perimeter, they would bubble them up, alot. I'd hope to get that game up by Thursday (HW willing).

I think I've figured out a way (through talking with a tech friend) to be able to do next seasons games with sound and pretty high quality. The only problem is that because the ND games aren't replayed on TV all that much, I won't be able to do the past (past season) games using the same method. I might be able to do the away games (Yay espn3 xbox 360 app) but the home games would still be the same quality (I'll still tinker with it a little, but its not going to get a ton better). Hopefully I'll be able to do this for the blue and gold game as a test.

The next game I want to do for ND's past season is Michigan State, what game should I do after that? I was thinking Pitt or BC.

Increased the quality and the frame rate for the Michigan State game, it turned out real well; I just need to edit it now.

Put the Michigan state game away in order to edit the Blue-Gold game, but ran into a problem.

I was able to get the whole game onto my computer in the form of a mpg file (Sound, full tv quality, tv frame rate), but didn't have any software to edit it (mpg files). I tried a random freeware, and was very unimpressed. It mixed up the clips. If anyone knows of any good MPG editing tools, please hit me up via PM.

There's an interesting moment at the 8:08 mark of the USC game. USC shows a corner blitz that Rees reads. As Rees is calling his audible, USC changes its coverage. You can see USC's play field side linebacker point at Eifert, who is main receiver of Rees' audible. With Eifert covered by the linebacker, and Rees limited by rolling out, he throws the ball away.

Pretty good scouting my Monte Kiffin.

I'm not sure, but I'm like 60% confident that Brian Kelly started going to a 5 wide base and then motioning in a man to try and mess with Monte Kelly schemeing the play.

If you're talking about the quality of that video, I've done things to improve future ones (and eventually go back and redue those ones) its just I'm time pressed for this week and can't do it. I've also found a way to record from the tv with perfect quality + sound +frame rate (but still need a way to edit it ARG!).

If you're talking about the.. content of the game. Ya, I agree. I've watched the heartbreaking moments of it so much that they don't really sting as much anymore...

Uploading the condensed B&G game (condensed into 1st half minus Reese's last drive, and then Reeses's last drive and the second half), 1st half will be ready in 40 minutes, the second half probably an hour. I'll post the link when its done.

Tommy's failure on the speed option was not a fault of athletisim, but decision making. He likely hasn't ran that play (and thus the read) that many times. The olb (?) faked him out with pitch read then played the HB. Tommy should have kept the ball, and if he did probably gets 5-7 yards. And the pitch wasn't bad, and George could have cut it out to the inside but our receiver on the outside just failed to block the CB. If the WR fails to block a cb on a speed option, you're doomed no matter what.

I would have liked to see more QB powers (What RIch rod ran with denard every done it seemed like) It seems like Hendrix and Golson could really thrive in that.

Why didn't we see more read option?

I think alot of our big chunk passing plays were a result of either a missed assignment (Hendrix 1st td) or picking on Cam Mcdaniel. Its good that our QBs recognized it, but I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

I'm very pleased with Theo and George. We can do so much shenangians on the defense with the matchups we can make.

Ben Koyack was used as an H back A TON under center. Hes the modern day (for ND) full back. He'll probably do this alot this year too.

Having Ben Koyack and Goodman next to each other makes me crazy as a fan at the game. I can't tell which is 18 and which is 81 it drives me insane.

I'm not happy at all with NBC's coverage of the second half. They probably didn't cover 30% of the plays.

I'm exceedingly happy with the process I used to make this one, I have tv quality, sound, and its fast. I think I can do this for the games next year (with ease depending on school work).

reps-nicely done! Watching the BG condensed really shows the play-making ability of GAIII.

Nice work. I recorded the game but haven't yet had the chance to watch it. I'm in no way qualified to assess the state of our team, or any phase of it. But I will say as far as our QBs, TR looks no different than last year, AH seems to either pass or run but not necessarily move behind the line and evade the D to make a pass, but EG seems to make faster decision, move well to evade the D and make the throws and run for positive yards when needed. For me EG has to be the starter. He seems to be more complete for what we need. The entire offense appeared faster and more fluid with him under center.

Only thing is, Tommy seems to REALLY know how to check into a different play against the defense.

When you want something, you got to put in the work. This holds true for schoolwork and pleasure. I should be able to get the Michigan state game up by the end of the weekend.

Any way I can change the name of this thread to "Condensed Game Footage" or "Offense/Defense/Halves cutups" ? I plan to be using this thread for this purpose for awhile.

I redid the FSU game w/ xbox espn3.

These are great man, keep up the good work. Go and watch the first half ND offense clip. That first drive is indicative of our entire damn season. Man, could we move the ball. Get a great punt return from Mike Floyd, some solid play calling to the point that were moving the ball well, then tommy takes a bad sack, and then of course, throws a pick in the red zone. Frustrating to know what could have been.
