Stop the hating! He deserves the scholly, period! He contributes a lot on special teams and truly exemplifies what Notre Dame is all about. Again congrats Chris!

I do not understand the negativity. The scholly is there, why not give it to the kid? The experience and hard play is well deserving and it makes the Irish just that much deeper.

We had several posts here completely void of either information or feeling. Almost like these people missed something in the "soul-component" bins on the original assembly line. A VERY good contributor to the team who is essentially special teams captain, is given a scholarship which is available and who will use it for only this one year, whereupon it will rejoin the normal scholarship pool, and we have three [ ... censored... ] unwilling to simply shut-up, or better, say, gee that's great for the guy!!

Thank you Chris Salvi for being a great Notre Dame teammate and valuable component of our team. Bless you and may you have a ton of tackles and blocks for us this coming season.

Does the lad not deserve this? Does not four years of busting butt and contributing to the team not exemplify what is a primary goal at Notre Dame, be it in academics or sports? Is recognition and an award not appropriate?

His achievements and recent good fortune should be applauded.

The reason I think Chris deserves a scholarship is because he came to Notre Dame without one. He went to practice everyday and proved himself and earned it. How many players are recruited, brought in on scholarship, then fail or don't live up to what is expected of them? A decent amount, i could name a lot but I won't.

Salvi was guaranteed nothing, but still gave everything he could for this team. You have to commend that. Good job Chris!!
