I'm not buying the Stanford or Michigan State hype.

Until I see a QB and some WRs that can beat the Scout Team, some Corners that can find their man and find the ball, and a WILL that doesn't play the pass like Sean Astin (see find their man and find the ball), and some semblance of a punt return TEAM, the SU/MSU hype is more plausible.

SU won't have Luck but ND hasn't had any luck scoring against the Tree putting up a mighty 14 pts in each of the games in the Kelly Era.

ND hasn't won 2 in a row against Sparty since '93 & '94. The only ND coach with a winning record against MSU in the past 15 years is ... shudder ... Tyrone.

I see BGIF has been infected.

Nothing like having BYU, Miami and Pitt in the "easy" half of the schedule. 6-6 is a huge possibility if a real quarterback doesn't emerge.

Seriously! I'm worried about a talented Miami team under their second year of Golden. I can see Anthony Chickillo running by Martin and company all day long.

Whoops, I walked into the wrong thread. I thought this was a positive thread. Guess I should watch where I'm going. :)

But when I keep it real, its negative. You guys are something else.

Note that BGIF provided facts.

Not saying you never have.... But you usually just swoop in with a,

"just wait until Stanford jailsexes us"

With no statistical back up or theory or anything substantial, really

Also (to get this back on track)

I think that if we can get by MSU/UM games without a loss, we could really pick up some steam.

I am not calling 12-0. I will say that 9-3 isn't laughable like some think around here

Love the guy, hate the attitude.

Anarin, before you can expect much positive in the outlook, we have to figure out and change why everyone is so bummed about this year's recruiting class. It doesn't make sense!

We lost Decker, Darby, and DGb:

Decker we didn't need. I don't think he is a bad player, but I don't see the upside that our other two gets, Prestwood, last years entire class have. Plus we have outstanding prospects for next year including Steve Elmer, who has already comitted, and is faster than lightening for a lineman.

Darby, everybody oohed and aaahed, when he ran across the field (fast) to congratulate Brian Poole for his touchdown. Brian Poole had a pick 6 where he outran everybody for the score. I never saw Darby as a hitter, nor in the right place like a Poole or a Shepard, (who will be a Consensus AA.)
Greenberry. I respect DGb, he saved Tee for us and new ND wasn't for him. He and Tee had a dream and he held on to it for too long. As far as receivers. We have enough to work with if the develop correctly. Mark my words also. John Goodman could be really good. He is faster than most people think and should mature quite nicely. For his critics: let's see how you do sitting behind Michael Floyd.

THE REST OF OUR CLASS IS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED, AND WE HAVE AS MANY TOP PROSPECTS AS LAST YEAR!

Now, I am not going to make a single prediction this year, but I am sick and tired of the limp-dicked, sackless BS thrown around by good people tired of being disappointed. Get up, drop it and get on your gear! Then find your GAME! Uhrah!

Can I find this in the urban dictionary? I like this term because of the shock value. Nice sounding phrase, juxtaposed with the actual act . . . Mind if I borrow it?

I don't necessarily agree with all of your post, but the bolded part is right on. It's time for people to sack up start acting like men! This is NOT an elite team. Quit expecting them to perform like one. Hope for it, wish for it, hell........pray for it. But quit EXPECTING it. If you expect it, then it's on you when it doesn't happen and you are left feeling bitter and angry. Start using the head that God intended you to think with, and quit just blindly charging into every season predicting 10 wins and dominance. Have faith that the coaching staff knows what they are doing, and will get the job done. Most of the complaining I see on here, is from people who are "tired" of this and that. And most of them reference their friends/coworkers' endless needling of them. That's a YOU problem, people! And it's probably the direct result of you talking way too much sh!t about your team, based on your delusional expectations.

Noted.

However, was I correct? I don't just spew random drivel, like most of the people who have us penciled in to the NC game next year. The facts speak for themselves and really don't need to be hashed and rehashed. Our QB situation is rocky, we lost our best WR with no clear line of succession, despite Gary Gray leaving we are not stronger at CB. Our DL should dominate, or LBs are capable and our TEs are awesome.

It is close, but we were closer to 6-6 last year than we were to 10-2.

To say you were "correct" would be a little off...

I understand that you're being realistic, I have no problem with that.

I dislike the arguments of "well if we don't turn the ball over and if the ball bounces this way..."

What happened, happened and our record shows it.

Hopefully our rocky QB play (which I think is our biggest restriction from last season) gets upgraded this season.

Our DB's are certainly unproven, otherwise the team overall isn't a bunch of scrubs.

Seems like when some people look at our schedule, they see the school's names and go off of that, rather than taking an in-depth look at who the team really is.

(why they think this schedule is so scary)

This is a dumb schedule, plain and simple.

I think 10-2 last year was realistic with a healthy team. I said 9 wins was the expectation, 8 wins would be disappointing, and it was. I think the first two games were a disaster, and the rest of the season was as expected until we lost Cave.

This year I think 8-4 is realistic and the expectation. That means 7-5 or even 6-6 is an unpleasant possibility. 9-3 would be a real victory, and 10-2 would be a homerun.

Are MSU and Stanford playing us 12 times each next season?

It'd be pretty funny if someone like Phil Steele broke down Sparty and the Cardinal by talking about Notre Dame's weaknesses, wouldn't it?

Not that you don't have a point to a degree, but MSU and Stanford are both losing players as well.

:eek:grin:

A little bit off? We were losing 28-7, with one garbage time TD. Luck was 66% with 4TDs, they ran for almost 200 yards. Did I miss something?

When you throw out the vulgar term "jailsexed" it sure as hell makes it seem like we should lose by more than 2 TD's

So yes, I would say you're a little off.

Stanford's D was dominating us up front, but we also did them some favors with TO's
