Slightly off topic: Standifer cites the fact that the Pitt Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers share the same facilities as a major plus for them, which I agree it is. Interestingly, Pitt's previous one-year coach, Todd Graham, completely avoided interaction with the Steelers organization every chance he got. He even had a separate dining area set up so players from the two teams wouldn't eat at the same location. The Steelers upper management was actually pretty upset about it, and were not the least bit sad to see Graham leave. Idiot move by Graham if you ask me. He was turning his back on what should have been a major recruiting pitch, as Standifer points out.
I don't know how college students mingling with professional athletes could be a good thing.
His tweet actually had it like this"...Notre Dame, Boise State, and PITT!" I don't know if the all caps makes a difference for those who pyscho-analyze.
I think Stamdifer is a very good fit for our scheme and If we had like 7 spots open I'd take him but with 4-5 spots left I say no unless we miss on all 3 of Poole, Yuri, and Darby which is very unlikely.
The guys that do the ISD Power Hour (Mike Frank and someone) think that he would be a very good pick up for us right now. They said pretty much the same reason as you, that he would be a very good fit. But I am with you. I would like to see what the higher ranked DBs want to do first.
best fit> higher ranked
If Sandifer commits early it means we are not too well placed with the others.
Yeah, hard to see what harm could come of Pitt and the Pittsburgh Steelers having a good relationship. Few college programs (any?) are so lucky to have that kind of relationship with a pro franchise.
As for Standifer, he sure looks like a fallback. Otherwise why hold a spot for him until mid-February? Would think we'd slow play him until/if the other three fall off the board.
for your consideration:
per Rivals profiles which would list their high school measureables
Robert Blanton 6'1 178 lbs speed: slow
Ant. Standifer 6'1 177 lbs speed: gotta be faster than RJ
Conclusion: Don't judge a book by its cover b/c I'd sign every RJ I could find. Easily one of my favourite players in the last decade. Look forward to seeing him on Sundays.

You nailed it NDPhilly. You have a lot of knowledge for a high school kid. Kudos to you.I think Stamdifer is a very good fit for our scheme and If we had like 7 spots open I'd take him but with 4-5 spots left I say no unless we miss on all 3 of Poole, Yuri, and Darby which is very unlikely.
And how did you calculate those speed ratings exactly?
With my eyes, Rivals had RJ listed as 4.5 speed but it looked like he ran with the speed of a coiled Cobra ready to strike which he always seemed to do well. If Blanton had good speed I think it would have been mentioned at least once in his career which I've never heard. Mike Floyd always seemed to move slowly too but still got the job done FWIW.
RJ? Not to sound like an idiot.....
