I know a lot of you have joined the IrishEnvy.com Group on Facebook, me included. We lost our anonymity.

I joined Facebook for the sole reason of giving my UNC pals crap for the bad season they had a couple of years ago. Should have known better, you start picking up friends you lost contact with, for a reason. Guys that were beer drinking bullies in high high school are now preachers, and they preach all the time. There's the Zumba queen with 3-4 updates per day. Geez. I Hide most of them. LOL

I digress. Wondering who joined it the other night? There are 7-8 recruits and players on there. Greenberry was on the chat the other night, answered a few questions which was kinda cool. Made me a little nervous, is someone going to say or ask something stupid. Nobody did. He did say he reads Irish Envy.

Activity over there has slowed since Monday, everyone back over her I guess.

What do you guys think about it?

I'm part of the group, I just don't comment on the posts. It works well for any emergency updates as its faster to get to than this site on my Droid. Majority of the posts here are much more intelligent than some of those.

I don't think either are a good idea. Yes it's cool that recruits are on, but so are a lot of idiot fans (and trolls masquerading as fans looking to do harm). All it takes is for one jackass to say exactly the wrong thing to a recruit, causing to rethink their commitment.
I give major props to Tee, DG and Elijah for being so accessible, but to me, the risk/reward doesn't work out.

Absolutely...I have no clue how recruits and players joined.
Best to steer clear of any issues of that sort.

I agree with comments above.

The group was mentioned on one of the threads here Monday night. It went from like 30 people to 130 real quick. I was surprised how quickly the players and recruits were on there, may have been there already.

It's a little scary, that kind of interaction. The group leader is someone here, too lazy to look it up.

Good question. I think at the time anyone could add. Probably should change it. Let me check, BRB.

Update: You have to ask to join. Not sure if anyone can approve, I have asked the question.

I believe the one who started the group has to approve all request just like I believe Tee has to for the bang bang group. I also believe IrishInFL is the one that runs it. There is a post asking for all IE to list their handle on the page.

IrishinFL is the founder yeah. I got admin rights way back when he first started it. But the players were there before the Kielfest.

Yeah you got to watch some of the ND guys on there that call themselves "superfans" they have terrible grammar, terrible comments, think they know ****, and are just jackasses lol. Its a bitch to try and keep things clean.

I checked the settings
Only an admin can OK a request to join. But you can also send invites out to folks...only IrishinFL can clarify how they joined. The first time I OKed a request was Monday, and it certainly wasn't a player...just people interested in the Gunner Kiel saga.

I am pretty sure on Facebook groups you can limit it even more than just asking to join and approving it. For example I think you can have them message you with a reason to join. I understand that they could lie, but it may deter some people since it would make it more difficult. Maybe check into some of the other privacy settings such as approving posts before they are added to the wall.

Yeah, it's his group so I won't touch his settings. It's a good fallback for when this site freezes up due to the F5 hurricane of refreshing on wild news days...other than that I don't see it getting much use by the majority of the members when we can just post here.
