Armond's original problem began with "chest pain" I believe in off season workouts or Spring ball. I read doctors later ruled out a heart problem.

Seems odd to me that we are looking at Armond for a one year gig, eh? I mean, wasn't last year with Prestwood (that transfer being allowed was incredibly new) the initial year for granting schollies to a transfer and now we are on the verge of giving one to a grad student? At least Carlisle has several years left - the coaches are pulling out all the stops here.

Regardless, I hope they realize the efforts the coaches are going through to get them here. We all want them Irish. Hopefully they take their time and make a solid decision that they are comfortable with...Soon. For us.

The brothers are not a definite package deal.

You dudes need to catch up on your IE. Tweets earlier today quoting the family confirmed that their preference is to go to the same school.

That doesn't mean that its a sure thing, but that is what they are saying out their own camp.

With Armond going to classes, is he still planning on playing next year?

This is a bummer for us. But, really, it seems best for these guys that they wait.
The whole thing seemed kind of crazily rushed, and that's how mistakes get made, which wouldn't help anyone in the long run. It's a big decision. A couple of weeks (or maybe less) to sleep on it and make sure all is squared away doesn't seem unreasonable. Indeed, once Cal blew up the other night, this seemed like a likely scenario.
Waiting sends the message they want to make the right decision, which reflects well on them as people. Good luck to them, and our coaching staff.

Also, it's interesting how EE'ing has gone from a good opportunity for both school and a certain kind of player - like, say, Tee Shepard - to this incredibly pressure-packed situation for all involved.

What injury did/does Armond have?

It is in deed a mystery. Credible sources say however that during routine physical examination, USC doctors found what they describe as a moral compass. Since USC doctors have never found one of these in a USC player or coach, the coaching staff decided to quarintine Armond for fear the condition might be contagious. The USC medical staff later tried to treat the condition, but the procedures did not take, and caused substantial side effects. ND doctors, after examination confirmed the condition. They also considered it a mystery that a former USC player could have such a condition, and have ordered more tests.

ok so I have some info from my board that I don't mind sharing. so FWIW

apparently the brothers are leaning in different directions (school wise) but the parents want to keep them in the same university. Don't know whether the parents are favoring one school over another though.

I think the feeling has been that Gus favors Notre Dame. If there's a split with Arik, I've always thought it was more likely it's Cal. Arik sounded like he was close to making a decision before the Auburn trip, but the recent Cal news and maybe the tugging Gus and Armond have done on him towards ND has stalled the process and he isn't sure anymore.

To be completely honest I don't think thats the case. I think it's a matter of clearance by Notre Dame's part. Just what I heard.

My guess is that Arik was leaning to Cal so the parent's could attend most of all of his games, being that he would play mostly at home and in the surrounding Pac-12 areas. For four years. That left Armond to go off and pick a school he wanted to go to, since he probably had his parents watch most of his games earlier on in his school career before the medical mystery.

Then Tosh left. I really wonder if Tosh recruited for UW, as was rumored.

I also feel like if Arik was that adamant about Auburn, Armond would just bite the bullet since it's only a one-year decision for him. The hold up here might cost Arik his early enrollment opportunity and a chance to play basketball. I can't imagine Armond would put up that much of a fight with all that riding on the line.

barely heard about this but WOW if true, that's pretty messed up and I absolutely dislike Cal.

Think it's also key to point out that Gus and Armond seemed to be the ones ruling Cal out for Arik right after the Lupoi news broke, but Arik wasn't willing to.

I do think Armond might be a little pushy...
1. He is big brother
2. He will be a NFL pick if he has a decent season
3. He wants to go where he'll play. Auburn has 4 sophmores starting across the D line. 2 stud DEs that seem to be firmly implanted. I don't know enough about our D compared to theirs, but perhaps he sees more PT at ND. We have two studs too, but he'd likely step right into the two deep as a 1B.
