Ok I was thinking this morning about the Darby and his seriousness with track. How can ND spin it positive? FSU track is obviously superior to track at ND. Lets call football a wash. Academics in our favor. If he comes to ND he is on national TV every single week, when he makes a good play or returns a punt/ko for td (which we all know he will wherever he goes) what is going to be said about Darby? Mayock will be talking about how successful this kid has been on the track team for ND (about time he doesn't say quicker than fast right?). If he goes to FSU and is successful on the track team who hears about it outside of Florida? At ND everyone in the country could/would hear about how good he is at track. IMO that's how you sell him on coming to ND if track is the major factor in his decision.

I don't know how much track is factoring into his decision but as I mentioned earlier Braman is a hell of a recruiter. I have no idea how ND track coaches go about recruiting but He may be getting the all out recruiting by 2 programs at FSU as apposed to only 1 at ND

Hey Darbs, come to ND. Because I SAY SO! And it is awesome. And Irishpat wants to watch you TWICE next year (@OU and Miami at soldier field).

That is all.

I want Darby more than any other player left on our board, including Armstead. I really hope the staff goes all out and gets him back in the fold.

They will certainly try but not to sound like a pessimist but I believe Darby is long gone, hope I am wrong.

Football is a team sport, track is individual. He can go anywhere and compete for a national championship in track just with god given ability, but he can't go just anywhere and compete for a national championship in football without the success of the team as a whole. I can't say that FSU is a national championship caliber team right now, but I can't say we are either. It all comes down to where he sees the most potential success IMO.

Am i the only 1 that is stunned there are no reports of coaches(Diaco) visiting Darby today, or any recruits at all? Im not sure what i was expecting today, but i wasnt expecting silence. Maybe all the guys who make all the calls to get the inside info from rcts and coaches took the day off or something.

Darby's either at or en route to FSU right now. Diaco can't really visit him while he's on an OV.

The staff may be saving their big visits/ in-homes until after the OVs for strategic reason. Always good to have the last word.

Can we confirm that coaches aren't at houses or stadiums right now? Can't remember the website for the flight tracker thing. Maybe Diaco will rise from the dirt at the 50 yard line at Doak S. Campbell Stadium like Rambo., while Kelly parachutes down and takes down the horse rider with a "chop", Darby will then tell the FSU coaches "SIKE" ,laughs and tells them they've been punked. He will EE at ND and we all live happily ever after.

I can see it now.

*Darby enters FSU Dining Hall. Walks past two men reading newspapers (faces behind paper)*

*First Man Lowers Newspaper*
Diaco: Ronny! I can't believe I ran into you. What are the chances?

Darby: Uhh, hi Coach, but I kind of have to...

*Second Man Lowers Newspaper*
Chris Hansen: Why don't you take a seat over there.

The plane has stopped being able to get tracked on those sites years ago due to just that. Other than that, it's alright.

I don't understand the correlation between Darby at FSU and To Catch a Predator.
I am fairly certain you missed the opportunity for a killer Penn State joke though.

Track is Track in my opinion. If your fast they will notice. Where is the Big East championships for track, New York probably, the mecca for media. Usain Bolt is Jamaican right? He didn't need the ACC to succeed.

He may follow Demps and try for Olypmic fame. Sure would be nice to have him in the mean time. Can't teach speed like his. Does anyone think he may be injury prone though. Thoughts?

I feel if he wants to go play football at FSU and run track with Bracy there, then do it. I have NO problem with him doing that. He is a legit track guy and FSU gives him a warm climate to be able to do what he loves to do. I hope he comes back to ND but I wouldn't blame him if he left for those reasons. Darby is a great kid and has been nothing but respectful to ND.

People have no idea the pressure these kids get today to sign with a college. I went thru it in 1998 and ended up choosing a smaller school just because of the connection I felt with everyone there. I was only ranked a 2-3 star and it was crazy (Internet wasn't even a blip to what it is now). I cannot imagine what it's like for the kids now. Darby obviously has some sort of love for ND, he WOULD NOT of committed verbally if he didn't. Time passes, things change, and new feelings are developed.

Maybe he comes back, maybe he doesn't.

Either way Mr. Darby, good luck to whatever decision you decide. ( as long as it isn't Michigan ). LOL
