Still waiting to hear why. We may never know the real reason...but something had to have happened to cause a kid who has been committed to a school for so long to just up and bail. Usually a coaching change or terrible season can start the ball rolling to an eventual decommittment, but in this case, neither happened. I don't understand this at all because of all the kids on the verbal list, Darby was the one who openly preached the 40-year-decision the most. If he was decommitting only to be considering NW, Stanford, etc...then I say ok, good luck kid. But this....I'm at a complete loss. Which is why I say something had to have happened.

Well this took longer than I anticipated. Thought he would have decommitted a long time ago. Lax has been saying for a while that Ronald would be the most likely recruit to decommitt. Hope the kid comes back, if not: Brain Poole and Yuri Wright you are more than welcome to come to ND.

Tee and Darby are two of the three best corners in the country...we need both, not one both.

FSU got into his ear at the AA game and without ND support at the game, it was too easy for FSU. With the dead period for the next week, gotta just be patient and take the wait and see approach.

If he leaves, then good luck to him to wherever he goes. Wish him nothing but success. ND football will survive.

STFU and calm down! It's not the end of the world! ND is still in it with Wright and Poole getting one of them or both of them would more than make up for losing Darby!

Disagree 1000%...Wright and Poole are not in the same world as Darby, a week ago i wouldn't have said this, but watching him Thursday night dominate his side of the field in an all star game and all week in practice we need him really bad. that's simply reality.

I agree, I think its the addition of Shumate that made him jump

Why?? two guys who play two totally different positions...Darby is the only guy we've got that can play the field corner committed in the 2012 class. Tee's a natural Boundary guy.

This is just my opinion but it appears to me he thought of himself as a player with potential and a ton of speed. He grabbed on to the ND offer as an insurance policy and started making rounds at all the combines. As soon as he realized he was as good as the competition nationally he started loooking at offers from schools that were not in the same rebuilding mode as ND. The timing of all this, with the dead period (as mentioned above), stinks to me. Good luck to the young man, if all this is true. I have complete faith in the coaching staff getting the most out of the players coming in and the players currently on the roster. Hopefully we can snag another quality corner before NSD. The studs will stop using ND and having second thoughts as soon as we start winning BIG games. BK said the best recruiting tool is winning. I tend to agree.

Based on what? Why would one of the top D-backs in the country be crapping his pants and doubting his recruitment based on Shu committing? Have you ever played a sport in your life? There's something called "Pride". If you're intimidated by someone else in terms of competition, you have none.

Son, you're starting to show your age and it's starting to get my Irish up. Present facts or stfu.

You could have been scared of competition. We do have A LOT of defensive backs in this class and maybe he wants to go somewhere with not so much competition and depth. But hey, what do I know.

They are at completely different positions. This is irrational.

i like you too, we're allowed to disagree, just my opinion after watching us get killed on the perimeter all year by guys who are faster and better athletes.

You are being ridiculous. "We" don't need Ronald, maybe Notre Dame might. You are crying over a 17 year old boy! There are a million of other things to worry about in life.

BTW you haven't been following recruiting for many years have you?

With the timing... all of this seems quite contrived. If the timing really was contrived, and I'm not saying it was, we'd be better off without. Makes ND a more attractive landing spot for Yuri and others. Wish he was Irish, but certainly not going to lose any sleep.

What are you talking about? This isn't the Charlie Weis early years...We didn't get burned on the perimeter all year by better athletes!

Sure we got burned by USC and Rob Woods, but the whole country also did!

Are you seriously suggesting a scenario in which ND would be better off without Darby? I can't even...
