What's the word on Booker? Don't know much about him. Was hoping for an outside hire to replace Molnar, maybe an up and coming recruiter. I'm willing got trust this decision. Maybe Booker is an up and coming guy. Just curious on what people know about him. Also, is no news on Hinton good news or bad news?

Multiple media outlets reporting #NotreDame assistants Ed Warinner and Tim Hinton will both land at Ohio State.

This is ******. No other way to put it. Feel like I was sucker punched by Meyer this morning.

I don't want to overly dramatic, but these hires may define BK in the short term. Finding a new recruiting coordinator and line coach will be important.

Just gotta give it some time. See if BK brings in anyone else and if not, let him get a hold of these recruits and talk.

Here's the QB statistics when our new offensive coordinator Chuck Martin's was Head Coach of GVSU between 2003 and 2006.

2004
QB: Cullen Finnerty

Passes: 230-of-363 passes for 2,764 yards and 22 touchdowns
Runs: 822 yards and 9 TDs

2005

QB: Cullen Finnerty
Passes: 192-of-333 passes for 2,462 yards and 25 touchdowns
Runs: 458 yards and 5 TDs on 139 carries.

2006

QB: Cullen Finnerty
Passes: 157-of-273 passes for 2,459 yards and 22 TDs
Runs: 523 yards and 9 TDs

***Then, from 2007-2009 Martin had Bard Iciek at QB. I couldn't find all his statistics, but it appears he did not run near as much as Finnerty

Mahone tweeted about this earlier this morning. Will it effect recruiting?

Coaching turnover is nice when its because you're doing so well other teams want in on your recipe for success.

I hope Briank Kelly remembers to send Urban Meyer a card on Father's day. Charlie Weis never did, but that's because he's bitter towards his daddy.

It will only get worse if Urban convinces a recruit or two to flip.

Briank you have one of two options:
"Thank you sir, may I have another." Get used to your Daddy's paddle.

or

You just received a shot across your bow, what do you do next?

I think O$U is officially our #1 recruiting rival. Urban Meyer is going to be tough to beat

Has former Memphis coach Porter been hired yet? He was a heck of a recruiter at LSU and would be a nice addition.

When does the dead period end?

From huskermax.com:

December 19: Quiet Period
December 20-January 3: Dead Period (staff may have contact with recruits who have been admitted for mid-year enrollment)
January 9: Quiet Period
January 10-13: Dead Period (staff may have contact with recruits who have been admitted for mid-year enrollment)
January 30: Quiet Period
January 31-February 3: Dead Period. [Note: Feb. 2 is "national signing day," the first day that recruits can sign a National Letter of Intent for their school of choice.]

I think that the writing was on the wall with Warnnier as soon as Martin got the OC job. I think he was a very good spread OL coach, we will need to do a good job replacing him.

I think Hinton was the most over-rated coach on the staff. Cierre Wood was a 5-star, and Jonas Gray was an agile 6'0", 230 lb., 4.4 back. The fact that these guys turned out good should have been expected. Still, a fine coach, and a great fit in his home state with all his connections.

Molnar never really impressed me. Martin will be an upgrade, and it is nice not wasting his leadership skills as a pure position coach, although I am sure he will be missed in the backfield.

I think Urban Meyer is officially our #1 recruiting rival. Urban Meyer is going to own Brian Kelly unless he starts to win convincingly, very soon.

Fixed it.

I don't recall Weis/ND beating Urban head to head too many times (Hendrix comes to mind, not sure of others) if any. Is it a rivalry if you get owned most of the time?

ND is the nerd who gets one good sucker punch in while the bully lands 50 good ones and sends the nerd to the hospital.

What the ****?

Honestly how can you be a Notre Dame supporter with ideas like that?

I really don't get some people right now. Two coaches left and it doesn't seem it was a mutual decision. ZERO recruits have left and none appear they are going to do so. We still Chuck Martin, Kerry Cooks, Bob Diaco, and TONY ALFORD! They key components to our class. This may help us to keep Chuck Martin with this promotion to OC.

My biggest concern with all of this is that less than a week ago BK announced that his whole staff would be returning, and how that was important to the program's success. Before worrying too much about a new recruiting rival, I want to make sure that our own house is completely in order. Was BK really that out of touch with what was going on/going to happen?

A rational man would realize that these losses suck, these two men want in on the Ohio pension (who wouldn't, as sadly Issue 2 failed haha) and coaching for Ohio State is as good as coaching anywhere. They are one of the elites in case you forget.

But a rational man would then realize that this is three opportunities for Notre Dame to snag three great guys from elsewhere. After all Notre Dame is one of the elites too.

Start panicking when Brian Kelly tells you he's hired Jon Tenuta.

I think there is a lot of overreacting going on here. Urban Meyer is a good coach, and it isn't altogether surprising that a few of our lower guys would choose to go with him. Every time a coach is hired, they build their staff with guys who were on other staffs. If you have been following the Hinton thing, it isn't very surprising he would end up at OSU. We'll live. As far as anyone owning anyone or being anyone's daddy, both OSU and Meyer have experienced more recent success than ND and Kelly. That is just the reality. And that being the case, we can't be indignant that a coach would make a lateral move like this.

ND still offers a lot of things to kids that OSU never will, and that will always give us a shot with certain kids. Kelly being able to recruit top-10 classes to ND after ND has been down for a while is evidence that he can recruit. But it shouldn't surprise anyone that OSU, with their recent success as a program and Urban's cache, is going to recruit well. Especially in Ohio. If you guys are going to freak out about that you're really going to have a tough time following recruiting. It is incumbent upon Kelly to build a program that is as successful as OSU has been if we want to go into Ohio and recruit against OSU for the best players there. In the meantime, we should take advantage of this opportunity to hire coaches that will expan our recruiting footprint in strategic areas that we identify, be they the southeast, Ohio, Texas, the mid-atlantic or NY/NJ.
