I take Heaps or Pete Thomas.. Does anybody know why we haven't offer Pete?

not sure. quite frankly, it's a bit odd that very few big schools have offered Pete Thomas. He's a big tall pocket QB.

but his only west coast offer is ASU. his only other big school offer is Boston College. Maryland and Northwestern are his other offers.

I agree I think we should offer Pete. First two to commit is the ones we'll take. Maybe our staff just has him rated lower than the offered ones....That seems to be the case but I do think Pete could be an exceptional qb.

Pete will make 5* status there is no questioning that.. I think we should offer this kid and stop holding out for Heaps or Montana..

I agree I think Pete makes 5* status but I also think Heaps drops to a 4*. I think he is way overrated just from watching film and his size. I would still take both of these guys over Montana. ND should get the top 1-2 QB in 2010. If Montana is the only QB we get that is not good!

I think the reason he's consider overrated is because rivals/media over hyped him up at the end of last year.. I think he's an average quarterback who can compete, no questioning that..

well, he was the first QB offered by CW and staff, and he [Heaps] does have alot of offers from the elite programs.

So I guess i'll rely on the offer list and the judgment of CW & staff rather than rival's evaluations.

Socal Domer is right. Plus, Heaps is a four-star anyways. He is a five on Scout, but ESPN and Rivals have him as a Four. Blake Bell, Austin Hinder, and Philip Sims, at this point, are considered better prospects than him.

Let's also keep in mind that there are no 5-star QBs yet on Rivals, the service I trust the most of the three, so it is safe to say that this QB class is not an elite one. If we haven't offered Thomas yet, than he might not be that great because QBs are always the first ones to commit. To date, CW and staff all believe Heaps, Montana, Bell, Hinder, Wood, and Gardiner are betters QBs than Thomas, so I think we are OK so far since only Wood is committed somewhere.

Washington prep star Jake Heaps, who is rated by some recruiting Web sites as the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the country, has chosen BYU and will make the announcement Thursday afternoon, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned.

A news release issued by a publicist on Wednesday noted that Heaps has made his college decision and will announce it Thursday, although the time and place was not finalized. A source said it would take place in Provo, possibly at a location near LaVell Edwards Stadium.

"Heaps anticipates releasing more information regarding time and place as it becomes available," said the release.

Heaps, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been scheduled for months to attend BYU's annual Junior Day, which is Friday in Provo.

According to the release, Heaps had offers from 26 programs as of June 1. He recently narrowed his list of favorites to BYU, Washington, LSU, California and Tennessee.

BYU and Washington have been considered the front-runners for the past few weeks.

Heaps is 28-0 as a starter for Skyline High in Sammamish, Wash., leading his team to state championships as a sophomore and a junior.

Was there ever any clarification as to who dropped who?

One version ND was hot to trot but didn't like some combine performance of his and had second thoughts.

Version two, ND didn't make HIS short list.

Good luck to him at BYU. We move on.

UW already has a good QB, don't they? Washington Stat would be and interesting place for him to end up, I think.

Edit: Yea, Washington already has Keith Price who looks very good as a sophomore.

Heaps is an LDS, so is Sark and they have a good relationship already.

I'm just not sure how well Heaps personality would get along with Leach. I also don't think Heaps skill set fits into the Mike Leach run & shoot variation offense.

Ah, well that I didn't know.

Btw, is there a difference between Mormons and Latter Day Saints? If not, why has the term Mormon ceased to be used (or so it seems)?

Transferred to Kansas. Wow, great day for QBs for them.

For all of Charlie's faults, he sure can recruit QBs.
