In the last 24 hours, we've seen reports ranging from Urban Meyer agreeing to a deal in principle with Ohio State to the former Florida head coach signing a contract. There have even been detailed reports of the staff Meyer is bringing to Columbus (more on those in a minute). However, despite the swirling rumors, Meyer is denying any deal with the Buckeyes, according to a report on Friday night.

The report comes from Pat Dooley, who received a text from Meyer about the latest round of rumors.

I can only tell you what Urban just texted me back about rumor that he has accepted job at Ohio State -- "No truth to it." — @pat_dooley via Twitter.

anybody that does/did not see this coming last june is simply not with it. everything is falling into place and it's going to get done if it hasn't already. this is a done deal, refusing to see it is just being stubborn...just fall in and join the rally.

Hey I've got a source that says Jack Swarbrick is going to be the new AD at Penn St. Its a done deal. I can't tell you who bc I am so important and I dont want to ruin my inside contact. You all must believe me. Its a done deal.

lol...your such a dork. what good does it do to tell you how i know it's a done deal, it is just go with it. i could care less if you believe the fact of the matter is...it's a done deal. if what you said about swarbrick was true that would be fine. hope it is a done deal...AD at ND is a job where you are 3rd or 4th in command at best probably 4th behind God, the president, and the football coach. no more will i argue with you cuz it isn't worth my time...by the way urban to ohio st is a done deal.

haha...yea can't remember the last time i heard a coach say he's accepted/been offered a job in the middle of the season. if i remember right the night kelly accepted the job (same night as his awards banquet at Cincy) he was interviewed by ESPN during the HOme Depot awards and totally denied accepting the job.

I would not have considered this before this year. However, after hearing Urban Meyer speak during games, I would consider it. He seems very thoughtful and insightful. Kelly needs to get at least five years though.

Health issues. Seems like he cant make up his mind. He retires, comes back, retires again. Also a horrible record of player arrests. I simply want no part of him being the ND coach.

I have criticized Kelly for some things, and I think they were fair criticisms. But I'd take Kelly, because he has shown he can win with something other than mostly five stars, which given ND's academic standards and emphasis on education, and thus the limit on his talent pool, he has to be able to do. He made Cincy a BCS team, recruiting two and three star guys, as I recall....If he could do that there with that level of talent, he can do it here, where he can routinely get at least four star guys, plus enough five star guys and three star system guys to win.

ND has hurdles Fla and Ohio State don't, in that ND expects guys to graduate, and wants only kids that want to do so. It's a different hurdle than Cincy had, but it has the same effect, only with the advantage of a much much better product to sell.

Hardly a big enough sample to know he could consistently do it. Not saying we have that from BK. Jury still out.

He did it at Bowling Green before that. Meyer's record speaks for itself and I would absolutely trade Kelly for him today.

Bill King at 247 Sports posted on FaceBook this morning that barring something unforseen, Urban Meyer will be the next HC at Ohio State and that Fickell will be retained by them as well.
