What I'm wondering is, when did the players commit these infractions? It's only been a little over two days since the Florida game -- not much time to get in trouble -- and just seems fishy that they're depleting their backfield for ... New Mexico State.
Fact of the matter is we won't know what they did or when they did it (until or unless the media digs it up), but it does seem pretty lucky for the Bulldogs that this happens to fall on the week they play NMSU.
I don't think it's purely coincidence that they're suspended for NMSU and not a quality opponent.
...
The bigger question, though, revolves around Crowell.
He's without question a very talented player, but the jury remains out on whether or not he's mentally tough enough, mature enough or durable enough to ever be a great running back in this league.
It's obvious he wasn't in the kind of football shape he needed to be in when he reported to preseason camp, and he's also been knocked out of several games with various injuries. Now you've got the report of the failed drug test.
The skills are there, but the Bulldogs have to be wondering if they'll be able to count on Crowell long term.
