For those of you who were there, how was it? Was it loud? I couldn't really tell how loud it was because I couldn't hear the TV. It looked amazing. The place looked like it was rocking after SC missed that FG to keep the score at 24-17. Were anyone told to sit down? Any stories?

Atmosphere was better than normal. Still not amazing, but better. The consistently ****** play was the problem tonight.

I have a nice little one minute video of the atmosphere right before opening kickoff and its pretty badass. Not sure how to upload videos and I don't feel like thinking/using my brain right now. If someone wants to spoon-feed me directions then I'll gladly upload it.

Best I've heard since 2005 USC, but not quite up to that level.

I have no voice left. Even through the terrible first half I lost my voice screaming in the student section. It might have gone when they blasted Shipping up to Boston.

The atmosphere at the game was amazing! I loved the music that they played, it kept the crowd in the game and they should pump music into the stadium for every game. I loved the towels. I was waving mine like there was no tommorow. Even though we lost, I had a great time and its something that I will never forget. My towel is hanging on my wall lol.

They played other music? I literally only heard crazy train. I kind of hate that song now.

I think that was the worst song they could have used. Be a little more creative. I think I may have heard some white stripes in there at one point. But I WAS a little stoned. I hear voices.

Atmosphere was AMAZING!!! Absolutely electric! But, yes I was told to sit down. It became quite an ordeal in my section where the people 5 to 6 rows back decided to ask the ushers to make me sit down. He said "there are certain times to stand, and those times are when everyone else is." makes no sense at all! But the guys around me all jumped to my defense and joined in to stand for the remainder of the game! So mad at the usher, but glad the fans came around! I also told him the reason I was standing was because "Jack Swarbrick told us to. I'm just taking orders from the man in charge."

What was the song they kept playing on third downs. Kinda got annoying when we couldn't stop them.

crazy train played way too many times. I actually deleted it from my itunes today. I was in the student section and it was fantastic. it was the first time i saw so many people outside of the student section actually cheering. those pompous ****s in the gold seats were as awful as ever. I saw one student walk down with one of his friends and mime golf claps in front of them. I was laughing my *** off. student section was wild, as always, but it was nice to see the rest of the stadium hold up their end. It's still very disappointing to me when the stadium is cheering "WE...ARE...N...". The southwest quadrant of the stadium is pitiful (and that's not even the visitor section!).

I was impressed with how loud the stadium was and the overall energy. I was in section 135 and a lot would stand during 3rd downs and and and other important plays. Stadium really got into it on 3rd downs and the music (although a bid redundant) did help. We kept waiting for the defense to make a really big play but it never really happened.

Well I was hoping the video I took last night would capture the crowd noise, but it all seems to be muffled. The crowd was constantly loud up until the lateral pass fumble that sealed the deal.

But yeah, it was pretty much like this all game

Crazy train got a bit redundant. I still would like to hear some last of the mohicans music or something along those lines. Can we please build luxury boxes so that the gold seats and blue hairs can go sit up there... One can dream.

Was my first game, but I thought it was as load as other stadiums I've been to for college football (I've seen a lot of games at the Rose Bowl and a few at the Colliseum). I agree that Crazy Train got really redundant because they played it every time USC was in a 3rd down. I stood for most of the game and was never told to sit down (and I am 6'3"), but my buddy was yelled at by a little old lady sitting in front of us and told not to use the F word. I normally am not someone who condones foul language in places where older folks and children are, but due to what was happening in the game I think my friend's outburst didn't deserve a scolding as I heard much worse. Regardless my friend apologized and we kept our yelling PG rated from then on. Overall, I thought the stadium was really loud when the situations warranted it...it's unfortunate that each time we got really loud, the team did something stupid and quieted us down.

To expand further on my previous reply, it was definitely the loudest I've ever heard a stadium, granted I haven't been to many other games. Win or loss, it was still an amazing weekend. Sat with two buddies of mine in section 11. Best experience of my life. There were some elderly people two rows in front of me who told me to have some class when I booed the USC band and I respectfully told them no. I made sure we got to the game a solid 40 minutes before kickoff so I could tell everyone behind me that I apologize but I will be standing the whole game and I encourage you to join me. Well it worked. I had the most live section I've ever been in take away the student section. We were doing push ups, all the cheers and screaming at the top of our lungs all game.

Also of note, the band of USC is absolutely horrible. They play the same boring song over and over again. One of the few positives of the game was the USC cheerleaders. Horrible at what they do, but damn are the hot.

The atmosphere was the best I have ever seen at ND. It was loud and my section was also a blast. I was down low in section 120 and the top 15 rows of sec 120 where all usc fans and that made it fun at times. I remember over the summer I mentioned on here that they should run out to "shipping up to Boston" so when they did, I was super pumped. They also played Welcome to the Jungle a few times, and that was pretty cool too. Overall, even with the loss recruits had to love what they saw. I wasn't a big fan of dark towels at night though, really couldn't see them. The gold helmets, all I can say is WOW! It sucks to lose, but the 3rd loss to me doesn't sting nearly as bad as the first or second. Dayne might be the most cursed player of all time... 2 blown knees, losing his vision against Michigan last year....bad bad turnovers. I felt bad for him, football is just not for him anymore. I did have one funny encounter with a usc fan. When I was walking up to my seat this guy (usc) says "who is in charge of the music selection at this Catholic university (lil Wayne was on) and I replied "I think the same guy that was in charge of buying R. Bush a house" Everyone that heard laughed and the guy just walked away. The loss sucks, but the ship is heading in the right direction. GO IRISH!!! Beat Navy!

Not only the usc cheerleaders but some of those sc fans... I saw some girls that where stunners!

I was in the "D" section of "We are N D" and I have to say, it was louder than I expected. When you're in the student section you can't hear them at all but it is really an acoustics problem with the stadium. There's just a sound vacuum. I legitimately couldn't hear the student section at all... I could basically only hear the ******* trojan band.

I was in Section 22 Row 22. We were able to move down from Row 55 as the poeple next to us wanted their 2 friends to sit with them. We gladly swapped. Stood for 80% of the time we were in the stadium. The only time we didn't stand was during the timeouts and halftime. If there was football, we were standing. I saw one older gentleman say something to the guy in front of him standing (this was in the 1st quarter) but the guy standing simply said the only reason he was standing was because everyone in front of him was standing. Soon after that, the older gentleman figured out that to see the game, he would have to stand also.
I thought the crowd was awsone, especially considering how awful ND played for the majority of the game.

That's actually pretty interesting. I hadn't thought about the fact that it might be because the two sections are adjacent to each other. Was anyone sitting in the "N" section and could they hear the "D" section? (since the sound waves would be traveling across the field, meaning the student section would only get the vestiges of the sound waves, meaning I've been unfairly chastising that section for the past 4+ years haha)

More reasons why you should never read ND Nation:

Does anybody doubt that Kelly was the main proponent of jock rock for ND Stadium? While I understand it is not his final decicion, I have do doubt he was pushing for it, hoping it would cover for his defense's ability to get the crowd fired up.

He is white trash, and sees Outback Steakhouse as fine dining for him and his wife (at least he did when he was a glorified gym teacher in Allendale)

Can we confirm whether he drives an IROC-Z or TransAm?

Anyone have an address to send a letter re: music?
by NDGrover

The only complaint letter I ever wrote came after Arby's dropped the Big Montana. This is even more egregious. I thought @Mich had the worst stadium production I had ever witnessed. Then we copied them, and poorly.

And the helmets looked like Christmas ornaments.

Does anyone doubt that with Nick Saban we'd be 7-0?
by baydog

And not only in the hunt for a NC but the odds on favorite to make it to the NC BCS game? All things being equal I believe that to be the case. We now have enough of a track record on Kelly to pass judgment and I have come to the conclusion that he cannot and will not evolve into the position. Swarbrick should make the early call and get rid of him and most of his staff. Of course that raises the question who would want the job, yet alone take it and be given the reigns to be successful. I say Urban----offer him the keys to the kingdom.Unlike Kelly he has a real track record of winning at every level and nothing he did at UF rises to the level of public embarrassment Kelly has prodyuced on the field and on national TV. We don't like Meyer because he had the sense to say "no" to the IRISH and then took it to us in recruiting---too bad for ND. Thats why he is a winner. There's a reason people are calling Kelly "Faustian" this morning. It's time to end this chapter. Jumbotrons, shiny new helmets, Ozzy and rally flags are not the answer yet alone the problem---WINNING is the only issue---WIN and everything else no longer matters. WINNING at ND takes care of all recruiting issues. Giving Jonas Gray 3 touches, abandoning the running game, yanking Crist at the goal line and then throwing the team under the bus after a public beatdown and humiliation by USC tells any recruit all he needs to know about this coach. Swarbrick has his work cut out for him.

I was there for four years, and this was the absolute loudest the stadium has been - meaning the music did its job. To have that much crowd noise, especially when the team was playing like crap, is something ND hasn't had since Holtz. Crazy Train playing over and over was my only gripe. However, if USC hadn't had such long drives, we wouldn't have heard it so many times. And I absolutely hate Michigan, and thought I would hate if they played Seven nation army, but I had chills when it came on. The team playing well helps, but I've been there when they played reasonably well (loudest was 2008 vs scUM, my favorite game of undergrad) and it wasn't even close. Granted, that wasn't a night game, but still.
