Tradition is all well and good, and I LOVE tradition, but those who don't/won't/can't adjust with the times get passed by. That is a fact of life.

I'd like to see a green so dark you'd think it's black until the lights hit it and the edges shine green.

While I'm at it I'd like the pants of our normal unis to go back to shiny gold instead of the gold-on-very-cheap-fabric look. Now those are ugly.

Aren't those Florida unis just throwbacks? Notre Dame's throwbacks would be, well... what we wear now. Those LSU unis are almost exactly what they wear now just with white helmets and pants. Both are clean and classy, not black and turquoise with diamonds and sparkles and wings and all the crazy **** a lot of people seem to want here.

I don't think ANYONE is averse to alternate uniforms for the Irish as long as they remain classy and hold some semblance of tradition. I've yet to see anyone who didn't like the uniforms we wore for the Michigan game. There's a difference between moving with the times and resorting to gimmicks. Notre Dame doesn't need gimmicks.

I agree. I am guessing it is the home version of the Michigan game. Nothing crazy but different. We could even leave the shamrock off imo.

Just keep in mind that Florida wears three different combinations of pants and jerseys each week also.
They've got white, blue, and orange in everything.
I'm not in favor of anything crazy.
I don't want the pants or helmet to be touched (the shamrock is the exception).
I'm not in favor of even names on the jersey.
That being said, If they want to come out in all gold for one game, so be it.

We agree on the bolded statement.

Are you talking about "The Shirt" for 2011? If so, they are Madonna blue, a homage to jerseys worn during the Faust era. Ones I wouldn't mind seeing for a one-off.

ND's original school colors were blue (dark navy blue) and yellow. It has since morphed into blue (dark navy blue) and gold.

From IrishIllustrated.com:

The origin of school colors can be traced back to the founding of the University. At the time of its founding in 1842, Notre Dame's original school colors were yellow and blue; yellow symbolized the light and blue the truth. However, sometime after the Dome and Statue of Mary atop the Main Building was gilded, gold and blue became the official colors of the University.

review the throwbacks 2011 on gameday... i really like them alot, wish we won the game tho...

they had a segment were they talked about all the new jerseys this yr... it showed the UTL jersey...

i just hope we get gameday next week...

If Michigan's jerseys today are any indication, we will be wearing a home version of our jerseys against them as adidas clearly made michigan a home and away version. No question they did for us as well.
