ND gets no love from USA Today

Texas and PSU are both horrible this year. Have you watched either of them play, or are you basing your statement on the past 10 years, or their long standing reputation as powerhouses? Penn St has no QB, no WRs and wouldnt score more than 10-14 pts against ND.

Texas 3 best offensive players are 2 true freshman and a Soph QB who is just OK, only Brown is truly a threat at this point in time...however their running scheme is a traditional power running game...something that would not fly against this ND defense. Texas defense is decent, but nowhere near the level they have played at during the last 5 years of so. I've watched them 4 times this season. They are not very good. Just got waxed by OU, barely beat a very bad BYU team earlier in the year, and their other wins haven't been very impressive. Their best win is over a mediocore Iowa St team who turned it over 3 times ugly in that game.

And you think we kill cause why? we Soundly beat purdue who minnesota hung 45 on ? Ran the score up on service academy? They cant score on Notre Dame ? They put 11 up on Alabama not great but their Defense is on a whole different level than we are now. Every team we faced we have been more athletic then Texas not even close.Im not knocking our team I just think the Michigan game proved we are not a powerhouse yet.

As some have already said, let's just beat the snot out of USC in two weeks. They are our biggest rival and have gotten us pretty good over the past decade. Let's turn the tables and beat them. I'll take a win any way...ugly, pretty, lucky, or controversial. Just win and some good things will start happening to us in the polls.

Also, let's root for either Pitt or South Florida to win the Big East and for Michigan State or Michigan to win the Big 10.

Michigan is extremely unlikely to beat Wiscy, but if they make it to B1G title game, they could easily beat us out for the last at-large BCS bid. We need Michigan to lose.

This should hopefully address all the Debbie Downers claiming we couldn't beat most ranked teams. According to the bookies, there are only 8 teams in the nation against whom we'd be an underdog on a neutral field.

I didn't expect that we'd be ranked after Air Force, maybe after USC. The losses to South Florida and Michigan back to back were big. On the other hand, it was obvious that neither team dominated those games and that we shot ourselves in the foot. Thats why it's interesting to see Michigan ranked close to the Top 10 right now. They've certainly improved since Rich Rod, but they got their butts handed to them for 3 straight quarters. The biggest 4th quarter meltdown of all time was required for them to come away with a victory. South Florida certainly wasn't impressive either. They really didn't move the ball well on our defense, and the fumble we shall not speak of was the big game changer there.

If they make it into the BCS, it will likely be at our expense. Wiscy is going to the Rose Bowl, and Boise State is taking one of the at-large bids, so if scUM is in the BCS, it's probably because they won the last at-large bid over us.

I think Michigan will have some tough games against Nebraska, Michigan State, and OSU left to play. They may be favored in a few of those contests, but they all should be closer games. OSU may be down this year, but they'll certainly be up for the rivalry like usual. Illinois may be ranked highly, but in my opinion they haven't really played anyone outside of Arizona State and their wins against Northwestern and Western Michigan were close. I imagine Illinois will get rocked by Michigan.
