The ACC will only add teams. Increasing the buyout to $20 mil makes it pretty certain no teams will be leaving the ACC.
All the realignment that will be taking place over the next several months will be fun to watch.
Florida St., maybe even Miami to the SEC is very possible. Neither are real basketball schools, which is where the ACC will be placing all of their chips. I could easily see those two schools leave on football reasons alone, and it would further enhance the SEC in the rich recruiting grounds of Florida. I actually would expect at least FSU to bolt for the SEC as they are on the panhandle already.
They may want to stay and beat up on a weak football conference, so there is that to consider. Your last statement pretty much sums everything up nicely.
Also, this is it. ND will be joining the Big Ten at this rate. We don't have any pulling power as far as results on the field results to necessitate our inclusion in a new BCS structure with the superconferences. Losing our independence and a lackluster start to the season, not exactly what I was hoping for.
