Notre Dame Fans HELP!

Hey everyone! I'm new to being a Notre Dame Fan but my boyfriend has been one his whole life! He's only gotten to go to one game though bc he's in the Army and is always traveling. He is getting back from a Sniper training though and we'll be able to go to a game together! We can go to the USC, Navy, or BC game. I'm trying not to spend a fortune on tickets though since we'll be traveling and having to spend a couple nights to make the trip worth the time. I know USC is our Rival but I was wondering if the other two games will be just as good. I know my boyfriend will be so excited just to see a game again that he won't really care who they're playing, he just wants to go! So, I'm trying to figure out what game to go to, how much I should pay, and what seats would be best for us to go to. He has really bad ringing in his ears so I think sitting close to a band would be bad. The last time he went he was right behind the players and I know I'm not going to get that good, but as long as he can see the field really well then I think he'll be happy. Let me know what everyone thinks and what else would be good for us to experience while we're in the area!

I will try and help but if USC is out of the question then I would chose BC. If you are into an intense "rivalry" because they are both Catholic schools that want to be better than the other. As an ND fan, Notre Dame blows BC out of the water.

The Navy game would be pretty cool too especially since your boyfriend is in the military himself. The atmosphere is great no matter what game you go to, in my opinion.

When it comes to things to see, the list can go on forever. If you have never been there before here is another thread that has great recommendations.

Irish Envy Gameday/Notre Dame for Visitors and First Timers

I don't know about prices of things though. I always stay with family when I travel up there and my family has a tailgate so drinks and fun are taken care of. Maybe someone else will be able to answer it better than me.

Any game is a great experience. If you don't make it to SC, Navy would be great. But BC is pretty good too because of the rivalry.

I would love to help out. Especially to help a member of our armed forces get to a game. If there is something specific you need (money or whatever) send me a PM and I will see what I can do to help you make this happen.

Another route you might want to take would be to join a local ND alumni club in your area. They have sources for tickets and fellow members might be able to give you a good deal. You usually have to pay monthly or annual dues to the club, but you get some good benefits. You don't actually have to be an alum to join.

Otherwise, just getting the word out is a good way to go. You would be surprised how I.E. can step up to take care of our own.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies guys! It seems like all three of those games would be good, so now it's just trying to find the best prices on tickets for the best seats! I've been trying to find ticket sites that offer a military discount but haven't found any yet. Anyone know of anything like that?

For that, I might try to call the ticket office direct and see if they reserve and/or discount tickets for active military. A lot of stadiums do, but I am not sure about ND.

I wouldn't say they're all equal. USC will be the first night game at ND in over 20 years. The atmosphere for that game will likely blow every other home game in recent memory away. If you can swing tickets to that game somehow, it'll be worth the extra effort.

The atmosphere at Navy games is always good, and this year could be extra special if we pull out a convincing win.

Games against Little Brother (BC) aren't anything special. The game means everything to BC fans, and very little to ND fans. But then again, even the most mundane ND home game can be a special experience.

If you want to be the most amazing person, you've gotta splurge and go to the USC game. If a woman ever got me tickets to that game, I'd probably love her forever (especially if we win)!

Nonetheless, if someone got me tickets to any game, it would be amazing. Good luck!

You're getting some great advice. I may be able to fill a few more blanks. Normal ticket prices at ND are $70 per ticket. Check with the ND Ticket office. Sometimes tickets are returned (Worth a shot). I also wouldn't be surprised if someone on IE has extra tickets. You can almost always find tickets on football weekends-Look for people holding up signs saying things like "Need 2 tickets." Since scalping is against the law ;) many such folks actually have tickets they are trying to sell without attracting the attention of law enforcement. To save money, you may want to consider a hotel outside South Bend. Prices are outrageous on football weekends. Please thank your boyfriend for his service. Thanks also for the sacrifices you both have to make.

I don't think scalping is illegal, you just can't sell them over face value. At least that is what I remember last time I was there. Which was the San Diego St game.

Some people actually sell tickets for less if they are just trying to get rid of them. My brother went to the USF game and got two tickets around the 50 yard line and about 10 rows up for 30 a piece.

^Awesomest gif in the world.

Welcome Cute Cowgirl to IE. :) You could always check craigslist in the SB area, don't know, maybe someone would post some on there. Or even Ebay might have the SC game tickets for sale.
Hope you find cheap/good tickets and he gets a great experience! Best of luck with it all.
cheers

Dude, that avatar is "future me". In about 20 years, that is what I will look like.

Oh and by the way, your batman running with a bomb avatar was the BEST ever! That was a while ago too. You haven't had that for a while. I miss it...
