geez guys... count the numbers. None of those are a twelve game list except 2013. Where are these schedules coming from?? What's the factual basis??
The internet.

God, I hate reading about how "we need to soften the schedule to ever compete" or, "other teams are doing it". If that's what people want then we should just join a damn conferance and be done with it. I have no desire to see them schedule Akron, or Syracuse for that matter.
What's so bad about a few easy games? I still see Texas, USC, and Michigan on that schedule. That's a whole lot more than someone like Boise State can claim, and they've done alright...
I wish Notre Dame would schedule I.U. as an early season warmup. There's a lot of fan interest when they do.

I am shocked that people on this forum have the audacity to complain about soft schedules even going as far as to discount future opponents. Until Notre Dame has proven it can beat teams that it should be mopping the floor with, every team on future schedules should be seen as a hurdle and not a speed bump.
It was IU's decision to stop playing back in the 50's. They claimed their Big 10 Schedule was too tough to also play ND. I think there's only been one game since.
Not a lot of interest from ND's point of view either. ND already has an annual instate game with PU. ND would rather use the other date to play a game where the recruiting pool is larger, such as FL, CA, TX or NY metro area.
I vaguely recall two games, one in Indy and one in South Bend. I'd personally like to see it (having a graduate degree from IU) but it doesn't really do anything for ND, what with Purdue already on the schedule. I would like to see the Irish play a barnstorming game at Lucas Oil Stadium, though. Its such a great facility. Hell, IU and Ball State got 40,000 in there this year. ND and I dunno, Tennessee would sell that place out in a heartbeat.
Recalling ND/IU in Indianapolis would have to be vague. They've only played there 5 times: 1906, 1908, 1919, 1920, and 1921.
