My First Post/How to Deal...

Hey guys. This is my first post on this site obv, although I've been actively viewing the forums for awhile. I graduated from UMICH in May and have remained Irish through and through for my whole life. I sat in freaking tears after this game last night, hating my alma mater. How do you deal with a freak loss like last night? When do you start thinking about MSU? Even if we won last night, I see too many holes in this team to be confident about MSU...

Welcome to the board!!! As for deeling with the loss... the last 15+ year have thought me that although I am very passionate about ND and the football program... it's just a game & there are so much more important things in life! I know... it's easy to say that... not always easy to implement. Go Irish!!!

Its pretty bad that I went to bed at 1230 last night, and I literally tossed and turned until 4AM because I could not get all of the replays of ducks floating in the air, balls bouncing perfectly to Michigan, and once again turning the ball over twice in the red zone, and another 5 times total. How sick is that..

Its JUST A GAME!! Well for some... Obviously not for me...

I have tried so hard to make my son a ND fan, and he tries so hard just for me, but how in the hell can kids who look up winners be a fan of losses like that? He's learning how to lose, thats all..

That's a great point. My kids cheer for ND because it's Dad's school. But when we lose big game after big game, it's hard to rationalize with the little ones that they shouldn't cheer for teams with uniforms that they think look "cool" or drop 50+ on the board every week.

Pretty sure the kids are smart and will stick with dad on this one.

Dad's trying real hard to be the shepherd..... ;)

Give it a couple years, you'll grow immune to it. Us Irish fans (at least recently) are used to huge let downs.

I'd be lying if I didn't consider reacting in ways of what I consider being a bad fan or person in general. Anything from, literally tearing up ND gear to punching my Michigan fan/roommate in the face. So I did the only reasonable thing I could think of, which sounds like same thing as many of you, I drank to forget. Didn't help. The score was still the same and the disappointment still existed.

I'm sure it's the same for a lot of you.. but these losses have ripped my heart out of my chest. Mostly leaving me with a blank stare and disbelief.

I can't even imagine what this would do to me if I were a part of the team or coaching staff. It would be crushing. But I remember last year after the Tulsa I had a similar feeling. But watching them come together and play the way they did is what makes me love ND.

I look forward to watching these coaches and young men rise up and get better every week. I look forward to cheering for them overcome these disheartening losses

My first post here, and watching that game was heart-wrenching, painful. But that said, I'm originally from New Orleans, grew up watching the Saints and their years of ineptitude, so a couple of ugly losses won't scare me away.

Better days are ahead, and it may take a few years to get back to where this program should be, but it will get there.

This program was crap two seasons ago, and better days are ahead.
