The commits aren't die hard, life long fans like us. They're not affected the way we are. They see a tough loss and a hard fought game. They won't be leaping off the ledge like some fans on here haha.

The coaches will get in their ear about how we need them and the team is a work in progress yada yada yada.. they will be fine and this class will be top 10.

You mean like how they didn't jump ship last year?

Just a question, why does everyone think Maryland is so good? Because they barely hung on at home to a Miami team that we rolled last year? A Miami team that was hurt by suspensions?

Edsall is a great coach, and they are a solid team. But some are making them out to be unbeatable on our schedule

I don't know quite what to expect. This team could easily finish 10-2. It could also easily finish 7-5.

This teams lacks confidence. It rolls up yardage very easily. But it can't quite deal with prosperity.

Between being our own worst enemy and just plain horrible luck, we've squandered two wins.

But our schedule isn't looking as difficult overall. This team should win every game except MSU and Stanford, so I'll say 8-4.

I think 8-4 as well, but for some reason I think we get one of those 2 though. Lose the other one, and one more along way....

I also think if they can just get a win, get some confidence, realize the world isnt out to get them, things can snowball for the good. Right now it is snowballing the other way.

5-7, or 6-6 we dont win a rivalry game all year

Stop being so damn pessimistic. No one wants to read this garbage. Any halfway intelligent human being who has watched those 2 games cannot possibly think they are that bad. They aren't getting rolled. This isnt 2007 or 2008. We will win our fair share of games when we stop shooting ourselves in the foot. That's not going to happen all year. This crap about they will never win again or amount to anything in your lifetime is not only wildly annoying, it is just ignorant. Hell NDOM even thinks they are better than that.

This weeks game will tell. Any type of win, by skill, by luck, by 1 point, by 10 will go a long way. After the MSU game the rest of the schedule is winnable except for Stanford. However, given our turnover issue, DB play and mental lapses MSU, PITT, USC and NAVY could be up for grabs. He rallied the troops last year, lets hope he can do it again.

After about 4 hours of sleep, thank you to my kids, my attitude has changed.

I expect the team to miraculously come together, win every game, and get rolled in the Sugar Bowl by a second place SEC team.

GO IRISH!!

You can't honestly think that Aaron Lynch would have been the difference. Kid is 18 years old. Get a clue.

I dont need a clue to know any kind of pass rush, would of won both games. If Denard wasnt 1 of the worse throwing qbs ive seen, he would have destroyed ND. He had all day to throw his hail marys, you clearly dont recall all the wide open wrs he missed cuz he cant throw the ball. Saying hes 18 is pretty dumb, since most ppl on team are at most 3 yrs older a few 4. Hes not playing QB-he doesnt need to know a whole lot, hes the only DE this team has that even trys a swim move or any move at all.

We ARE better than that. That's why me and most everyone is pissed right now, what it all comes down to right now is that ND football is cursed for some reason. We used to have luck "o" the Irish but now every team we play has the luck. If you would have told me that we would have 10 turnovers in 2 games I would have called you crazy. Ugh. I'm so sick of losing.

and I was the only one who in the course of the last 24 hours had those reactions? If we keep up thsi way, yes we will end up like that but last year we hit a stride at the end of the season, hope it happens but after a loss like that Im not the only one who might think we arent going to do all that great.

Pitt and USC look very beatable. Michigan State and Stanford are probably are toughest games the rest of the way. Best case: 8-4, worst case: 6-6.

I think we finish no worse than 8-4. I'm hoping for at least 9-3 though. This is still a good team, they just need to elimination the stupid mistakes.

It's true, though. At this rate, why should we think otherwise? You would have thought we wouldn't turn the ball over five times two games in a row? I'm going to remain pessimistic until proven otherwise for the rest of the season. I should have known better than to get my hopes up preseason. I always do, and we always find a way to not live up to them. From here on out, I'll expect 7-5. It sucks, but until we prove we can hold on to the football, it's where I stand.

This team seems to lack a killer instinct. The way Michigan played in the first half, Dame should've had more than a 17-7 lead. The problem with rationalizing this loss ("could've won if only") is that Michigan could say the same. What if Michigan had let Denard run more in the first half? ... I can't see how anything can be said about this inconsistent team beyond one week. Does anybody have the rundown on MSU? How good are they this year?

my honest expectations for this year 6-6.

we will lose next week. we will lose to Stamford, and we will lose to Southern Cal.

throw in another disaster and there it is. so much for chalking up 5 turnovers as a Week 1 fluke.

Hmm, depending on how USF and Michigan fair, if we go 10-2 (including beating Stanford at home) I'd think we'd be BCS-Bound.

If ND can translate how good they are on paper onto the field, play all 4 quarters, and create turnovers instead of turning the ball over then they can make some noise.
I'd like to see some of our known players such as Manti Te'o, Michael Floyd, and Cierre Wood challenge this team to go out and raise the bar week after week and show they want to win.
It's college football, anything can happen on a Saturday, and ND will win if they are the better team. Go Irish.

My honest expectation is that NDOM has been right all along... Jesus I can't even believe I am saying that.

Every year people come on here and say after a loss, well wait til next year, well wait til, Weis's recruits, WIllingham's recruits, 5 T/O can't continue to happen (that was just last week... yet VIOLA 5 again last night)... Seriously, when does the bottom just fricken fall out already?

I got prolly 20 calls/texts when Rees drove down the field and scored that go ahead with 30 sec. left, and all I kept saying was "that crap doesn't happen for ND!! Holy cow, no way they just did something they NEVER do" And then I got the ULTIMATE DEFLATION. I mean CMON!!! the damn FG was HIGHLY IMPROBBALE, and they score the TD?!?!?!

It hurts so fricken bad cause I love this team/program more than anything. My whole weeks during FB season revolve about the damn game, and no matter how faithful I feel, every single week i just get stabbed right square between the shoulder blades (screw that, stabbed right in the EYE!).

Last nights loss was FAR AND AWAY the worst loss I have EVER, EVER seen. Not even just for ND, but in all of football history. Denard was a 29% passer with 140yds with 4 mins to go in the game.. He ends up with 200+ yds passing in the last 3 fricken drives? HOW THE HELL DOES THAT HAPPEN? How does Rees just let the ball fall right out of his hand after getting a pass interference call gift wrapped to him right before this whole debacle (that PI was BS, but I felt fine about it cause the previous Mich TD was a pushoff of Gray so I felt redemption..)?

How does the ball come out of the RB hands on the 1 yd line and "float" right into Denards hands for him to walk in unscathed? CURSE, CURSE, CURSE!!!

This is the BEST WORST team in the history of the game. There are 15+ NFL caliber players on this team and 3-4 top 3 RDs type players.. I know thats not like Miami of 2000, or USC or 05, but seriously, how many total NFL players does USF and Michigan have COMBINED?!?!

How do you bounce back from a loss like that? How in the world does BK change the forever dwindling focus of this team? The pope himself couldn't bring this team up spiritually!

Sadly, that rant was still that bad even after cooling off.. I was at a complete loss of words last night, and my loss words then has only turned into random rambling.

Until I see different, NDOM will be my focal point for any insight to anything related to this FB team.

How any single fan can stay optimistic after that is borderline delusional.

I will never stop loving this team, and I will always cheer my hardest for them, but I will NEVER have another lick of optimism.

8-4 is the best possible outcome for a team with a turnover problem this awful, a sad db core and just such bad luck

Oh and how can I forget the first INT from Rees... Are you kidding me? How in the world does Eifert NOT get the ball thrown to him there? That type of tunnel vision (although I don't really understand how Rees could not have seen a streaking Eifert down the seam so wide open that if caught would have been a guarenteed TD with Eifert's speed) is exactly the type of crazy crap that happens. Rees never looked off of Floyd on that route ( and many more too).

I get it, MF is an absolute monster, but CMON!! He cannot only give you what you need from him WITH the ball, but in that type of situation, he is the ULTIMATE decoy. Ok, so Rees is still young, and probably can't check every check down, but for the love of GOD, look at the ONLY two routes running to the right side when you are rolling out right!!

Exactly how I feel every year. I have been a fan since I was 7 years old. I'm 34 now. Nothing seems to get better besides the athletes and maybe the coaches. As far as winning? It's just not going to happen until we join a conference. We need to join a conference and schedule 3-4 cupcake teams to get primed for conference play. That's what all the other teams do.

Notre Dame football is IRRELEVANT. We are NOT better than everyone else. We need to get off our high horse and join a conference and do it NOW! Until then we will continue to go 7-5 or 6-6 with a 9-3 sprinkled in every 5 years or so. Heck, even if we do join a conference we will still probly lose 4 games per year.

Bottom line? ND football is dead people. It died after Lou Holtz left and wont't ever be back. So take off your green sunglasses and stop drinking the green kool aid because every year you are just going to be disappointed.

7 or 8 wins.

Stanford is a guaranteed loss. Michigan State is likely. USC has been terrible thus far, but we lost to ****ing Michigan, for God's sake.

You guys are just kidding yourselves by pretending turnovers are 90% of this team's problems. ND has the biggest paper tiger defense in the country...there is no denying that.

MSU, USC, and Stanford are guaranteed losses. They'll collectively shred the secondary, and ND's front seven won't do much to stop the run.

The question is which other games are dropped? If maryland and its QB continue to progress that will be nearly impossible to win on the road.

6-6
