its all going to depend on how we respond to this weeks loss. if we respond to adversity like last year i think we will have a heck of a season.

tommy's played in some big games, but this will probably be the biggest.

If we stop Denard Robinson to a minimum we will win. I know its easier said than done but it is very possible to do. "DONT LET HIM BEAT YOU TO THE OUTSIDE!!!", thats what the coaching staff should be screaming to the players all week.

There are regular fans, then there are fans like that are on this board. The fans on tis board who follow the team way more than just watching the games on Saturday know that this team is different than past years and it is a matter of time before the wins come.

Are they really though? Every year the kool-aid runs rampant (I was as drunk as everyone this year), and every year something happens that derails all that optimism.

The team has all the makings of a great team, but losing the way they did on Saturday should definitely raise red flags for any fan.

Could they still win 10 games? Yes. Could they still lose 6 games? Yes. Do we ever know what's gonna happen until it happens? HELL NO!!

I am tired of getting excited, only to be let down. GO OUT AND PROVE IT!

I think this year and next will be 9-3 or 10-2ish seasons for the Irish. Like I said earlier, our team is too good to be anything less. 2013 is when we make a strong push for the NC.

ND needs to rally the troops because we are going into the Michigan portion of our schedule, which we haven't won out in a very long time. The loss to USF was very deflating when the team needed early momentum to carry them through the front loaded schedule. This loss complicates matters, while by no means a condemnation, but it completely changes the mindset and puts more emphasis on these next two weeks.

I definitely agree that the Crist INT in the endzone could have been called pass interference. Announcers didn't really discuss this but the guy clearly pushed Riddick down. As for the Jonas Gray fumble, i don't think it should have been blown dead but I sure as heck wish it would've been.

More than a few late whistles but to cry about it is not good. Watching the replay of the fumble showed he was stopped and being propped (for the strip). I think they win 9 games. The people who want Notre Dame to look bad ( bashers) are the people who see the aquisition of talent and dont like the idea of dealing with Notre Dame once they get it rolling. Trust me by the end of this season college football will see a fine Notre Dame team and a program pulling itself up to where it belongs. There's too much talent here now and coming for it to be any other way.

I hear what you (they) are saying, but the truth is even if this WAS the case, these were only 2 plays. There were still 3 other turnovers, plus a handful of bone-headed penalties. The much bigger picture here is that the team was lacking discipline on Saturday. I just hope we can chalk that up to jitters and they will be prepared come Saturday night, because as "tough" as this 1st game was, the 2nd one isn't gonna be any easier.

IF ND comes back and is able to beat scUM and MSU, I truly believe that they'll end up w/ 9 wins at a minimum. scUM is definitely THE game for them to see if they can overcome last week's fumbling, bumbling debacle. Then on to ol nemisis, MSU. Patience is not a virtue; it's a necessity .... gotta take it one step at a time!

Make no mistake, this Michigan game is HUGE.

Win that, and you salvage the season. Lose it, and 8-4 may happen simply from the wheels falling off.

Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Air Force follow it. Those are all games the Irish should be expected to win. Going into the the USC game at 5-1 and ranked ~#15 would be the case.

First I was screaming replay, then when I saw the replay I was screaming the play should have been blown dead. Progress was clearly stopped, at least 4 guys had him wrapped up.

I hear ya tho, although I (as most ND fans I'm sure) would like to think if we knock that opening drive TD in the game goes in a totally different direction. An outsider may say no way, you committed way to many mistakes for it to be a fluke thing. But anyone involved in sports knows how funny of a game it is, and also how delicate/precious/important that "MO" factor is. I know as a fan, I felt like I was punched in the gut, all the air was sucked out of me...can't imagine the players were feeling any different. Then everyone starts pressing and there is where your mistakes come in! I'm hoping that was the case anyway. Point being, we need to come out of the gates Saturday night with all guns blazing and start with a bunch of positives.
