Well, lets all forget about the slop we saw against USF, and look forward to Michigan. The season is not lost by any means.

ND had 508 yards of offense (only 20 pts)

I expect ND's offense to move the ball against Michigan with ease, I just hope that we get points out of it, and limit the mental mistakes. Rees starts. Theo Riddick bounces back, and has a big game.

The defense played well, but the edges still seemed like an issue in two ways. 1. Our corners gave too much of a cushion. There were to0 many 2nd and short yardage situations off little comeback/hitch routes of first down. Also, our pursuit off the edges was not what I thought it would be, we had a lot of missed tackles in the flats that turned in 5-6 yard gains. I expect UM to attack us with quick passes, denard draws, and outside runs. I hope we can stop it. Otherwise we are screwed.

I expect ND to get back to playing disciplined football on offense, and have around 430 yards of offense and 30+ points.

Execution will decide our fate. UM won't beat us if we don't beat ourselves.

31-17 ND

Rees and Floyd become a dangerous combination
Cierre runs for 135

Whoever our other ILB still has some issues with pass coverage. That needs to be fixed.

Scenario #1: Defense plays a decent to solid game, with very little offensive miscues.
Result: Notre Dame wins, possibly comfortably if things go well.

Scenario #2: Defense plays poorly, but offense is clicking.'
Result: Shootout. Possibility of victory.

Scenario #3: Defense plays poorly, offense turns the ball over again and again like last week.
Result: Rather formidable loss. Season collapses.

Do you think the undisciplined slop we saw last week was an ab-oration? Or is there something going on? That did not look like a BK team, it looked like Miami in the sun bowl

We don't turn it over once. We look like the team we thought we were going to look like last week. Cierre Wood breaks 150 on the ground and Rees adds in 250 as the defense shuts down UM to only 250 yards.

ND wins 31-20

Run the football, control the LOS and the clock and play a solid game. I personally don't want a high risk airing it out game called in for Rees - lets be solid and get the season back on track.

If this happens then I have it at 28-14 ND

i can see michigan being just as big of a disaster as USF honestly. we have talent for sure, but if we turn it over 3 times in the red zone will anyone be that surprised? no. upset, yes for sure, but not shocked.

How many times (other than last year's winning streak) have we responded well to a loss in the last 15 years?

I don't think we run on Michigan... However, you can throw on them, and my theory is if we don't turn the ball over we win, if we do.. our defense will have to stop Robinson

I am feeling better about this game than I did before the season started. I feel who ever the QB is better have ice in their veins because the big cat house is going to be crazy.

Western's backs averaged six yards per carry (16 for 96) on Michigan last week. Plus keeping a balanced offense would take the pressure off of Crist/Rees.

I actually feel better about this game than I did before the season because of how our offense showed it could move the ball

I think we have to run on Michigan, we arent good enough to be one dimensional. As Riddick alluded too, I hope they respond well to the loss. Also, Rees has to start, I can't see Crist being able to stay grounded in that environment. He's going to need a Quaalude to get off the bus lol

No prediction, just a thought: we are going to learn a lot about the defense. Bottom line, in my opinion, is that Notre Dame's defense reminds me of Ohio State's defenses from 2003-09: able to dominate against power teams and in inclement weather but might have trouble with speed. I don't know if this defense can contain speed. If I were Brady Hoke I would test ND early with some creative plays designed to get Robinson in space.
Defensively, if I was Hoke, I would pressure Rees. I feel nervous with Rees still. Maybe this is unfair but Lovecchio keeps running through my mind when I think about and watch Rees.

My sack shrunk after that debacle on Saturday...hope I can find "them" again before the next game. It's never easy at the Big House, but I'm going to keep the faith...I know the players aren't going to roll over and play dead! Go Irish!

That is a very specific and bold prediction. Personally, I can't see that final score being such a wide margin. An ND/Alabama game would come down to the last minute and then the next week ND vs. the worst team in FCS would come down to the last minute.

I get angry. I looked like BK on saturday while I was at my girlfriends family reunion. Alone, and by myself watching the game on my iphone and turning purple with rage. Great impression

I like Tommy to start against Michigan. He's a year older now, he performed pretty damn well for a Freshman last year, and he nearly brought us back against USF last week. Yeah, he still has some turnover problems, but I don't think you can hang one of them on him given the receiver wasn't looking. On top of that, I don't think we ran more than a few times the entire 2nd half, USF was looking for the pass on every play as a result.

With a more balanced offense you will see less pressure on Tommy, and he may have a full week of practicing with the first team in preparation this week too. I think we'll look a little better against Michigan as a result, and hopefully less turnovers if we've learned our lessons on ball control this week. If not, it could be an ugly contest.

I expect the defense to bottle up Robinson a little better than last year, but this could still be a shootout. I'm gonna say...Michigan 28 Notre Dame 31

South Florida is better than Michigan. Notre Dame cannot possibly make so many unforced errors again.

Honestly (and irrationally) I feel fine with Crist. I have this mental block that I can't get past whereby I see an athletic guy with good size and a good arm and I feel confident. Clearly Crist has more clubs in the bag and is a bigger hitter than Rees but Rees hits every shot in the fairway while Crist hits the ball 300 yards but is always in the rough.
Like I said, it's irrational. Normally, I stay away from commenting about the QB situation because Rees is clearly the one who produces results. Maybe, more than anything, I cannot forget Rees forcing that pass in the Tulsa game.

Its gunna be a tough game, UM has a good offense but our D is capable of stopping them, IF we limit turnovers we have a good shot. One thing in our favor is UM couldnt stop WMU's #1 receiver in the first half even when they tried braket coverage and hes not Mike Floyd.

The defense didn't let up to many plays that led to 2 and short. They also didn't allow to many plays to stretch the outside for 5 or 6 yards. We gave up a total of 254 yards, 1 touchdown that was well covered they just made the play and we swarmed well to the ball for the most part.

WTF does everyone have to be negative on the team as a whole? Be mad at Jonas and Jonas only. You can be disappointed in the play of some of the guys but hell, its football. Jonas is the only one that committed an issue that is addressed the very first time you step on a football field. HOLD ONTO THE BALL! I understand fumbles also happen but when you are on the 1 yard line going in ... I can't think of a better time in a game to make sure you secure the ball first and foremost. PERIOD!

Now can we all please just put our ****ing glasses back on and get ready for Mich????

Wow, everyone seems to think that book is suddenly the book of wisdom because it's being made into a movie.
Well, your advice is pointless as I Read Moneyball when it came out. Frankly, trying to apply a sabermetric approach to every sport is futile. Baseball is much more individualized and situational than football. Moneyball as the new pardigim for all sports is going to get old quickly.
