The 06 team we had high hopes for started out bad too... But they did end up winning 14-10 vs. G-tech. I'm puking kool-aid right now.

Who starts next week? Crist or Rees?

From how this game has been I would say Rees, even though alot of the mistakes in the first half were not Crist fault. As you look at it though, you have to analyze who produced better and that was Rees.

This seasons expectations are like the Air Force buying a brand new F-35 fighter, and then being shot down by an RPG by dumb luck.

I would start Crist. That way he doesn't suffer major depression lol, but Crist was trying to spread it around in the first half to different receivers. He wasn't making good throws but all Rees does is look for floyd 95% of the time. It works, but teams will start to shut down floyd and then we're really screwed

I love Dayne, but I don't know how you can argue for him to start. This offense has been crisp with Tommy.

Who cares about Herbstreit........is that what you are worried about?

I would think how this team is playing is something to be more worried about than an O$U alumn....just saying.

Kelly's job was to prepare his team... they came out flat and thats on him

I hate this attitude... the coaching staff can only do so much... Kelly put them in a position to win... kids didn't execute in critical moments... it happens...

I'd like to call for kindness on this site. We're all fans. Let's keep talking about the game, but no need to get nasty.

(Just trying to head it off...)

Guys its just one of those days.

Think about why we are losing. Its not Kelly's fault. People fumble the ball every season. South Florida is just ungodly lucky they were able to return it 96 yards.

The ball bounces off TJ's shoulder and pops straight up into a SF player's hands. PURE. LUCK.

Some days you got it, some days you don't. The game's not over yet either. Most of you are shameful and embarrass me as a ND fan.

Kelly and Co. had a great game plan. The players failed. Kelly can't make the catch, and so on.

95% of this team came to play. Kelly has no control over Gray or Riddick fumbling the ball. Kelly doesnt have any control of the most accurate kicker in the country last year missing an easy field goal. Obviously Crist didn't come prepared to play and thats on Kelly. However, when it became apparent that Crist wasn't the right guy for the job, Kelly made the tough decision to pull him. Our O-line came to play, our running backs came to play, our defense definitely came to play, Rees certainly came to play, Michael Floyd came to play. Maybe after this game, Kelly needs to reevaluate his trust in Riddick. Besides that, I don't think any of this falls on Kelly if we lose

I am at a loss for words..... Dayne looks like a taken deer in head lights and with Tommy...we cant complete a pass over 10yds unless we "toss it up to one of the best wr in college football. We waited 8 to 9 months for this? I dont give a rip about the what ifs and correctables......ACCOUNTABILITY to lack of focus- preparation overall performance in 60% of the game phases. I expect better......Bottom line!

I agree 100% about Tommy and Ik Dayne didnt play well. I just think dayne can lead the offense better. Idk what got to him today, but I think he can turn it around. If Tommy starts then im fine with that. I would just like to see Dayne get another chance.

It is the coaches job to have his team ready. Firstly, Kelly put in a QB that 'won' the competition. Crist was his choice. Rees plays with fire and hits recievers. Crist throws over, under, behind the recievers and holds the ball too long. A coach does not leave a player like Riddick in the game when he is fumbling and bumbling all over. You sit him and let him get his head straight, or you keep him in the game and risk him bobbling another one. He obviously isn't right. His feet are not under him when he goes to catch the kickoff. A coach sees that and gets him the hell out of there! A coach is responsible for preparing his team and having them ready to go. ND was NOT ready to play. Say what ya will, the play speaks for itself.....

Without sifting through all of these posts, I'm just going to throw it out there that this is now Tommy's team, and to add that I was COMPLETELY wrong about that kid. He has shown the moxie that Dayne hasn't been able to recreate since the TD to Rudolph in the Michigan game last year.

It was bittersweet to see Tommy take the field in the 2nd half, and it's obvious the QB battle was indeed that close. That early hook of Dayne sends the message that Dayne is just not going to be the man here, and I'd go one step further to say his 5th year isn't being offered. And this is coming from a HUGE Dayne supporter.

All IMHO, please debate respectfully.

I think it is kind of funny, the last coach to win a National Championship was Lou Holtz. he coached for 10 years here. He only had 1 undefeated season. But yet people will praise him, so why can a current coach never lose a game?

It happens, ND can and will recover from this game if for some reason it is cancelled. Just have faith.

Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!

Tommy has thrown for 211 yards this half. He's gotten the ball to at least 4 different receivers...just about like Dayne. He's been good. He's made good reads. He's made almost every throw.

I don't know what we dislike about that.
