That's ridiculous, I read the same thing. I don't have any tats but I have absolutely no problem with them. As long as the person they are on is genuinely trying to be a good person.

Tatooes have gotten a bad rep for being associated with thugs, criminals and fighters. Also, meatheads with barbed wires across their steroid infused biceps.

But for ancient warriors and civilians they stood for honor, family, origin and love. Unfortunately, in not so many positive ways they were used for numbering slaves or prisoners too.

Maybe he's religious and that is his reasoning. The bible does say you shall not mark your flesh in any way..

Sorry, Im rambling.. Back to the radar room.

Not that I have a problem with tattoos or piercings but...

He owns the team so he can hire (or not hire) whoever he wants, right?

I'm not sure the conversation went as it's being portrayed (after reading a few sites, some say it was a request, some more a subtle comment with "don't do it or else" under-tones. I can't tell).

From what I've heard (from a few different news reporting sites) was that yes, Richardson and Newton had a conversation on the topic of being the "Face of the Franchise".

Richardson said it was his preference that since Newton was in this position, that he have more a clean-cut look, keeps with his personal upkeep, ect, including tats and piercings.

I never got the impression that it was a requirement of Newton or an ultimatum. It was just a boss asking an employee for a favor, but again, that's just what I thought it sounded like.

We should all be so lucky for our employement to go as such. I know I'm required to keep a somewhat "professional look" and I'm in a damn cubicle all day. And for those looking to play the, "If he has to do it, everyone has to do it" card, I call bull. I know here in corporate America, someone interfacing on a daily basis with clientel has to have a much more "refined" look than those like me. It's part of the job.

I am not sure if you heard the actual audio. It went something like " Cam Do you have any tats or peircings?" and Cam said "No". So Richardson said "well lets keep it that way".

So take it for what it is worth. That is what Richardson said the convo went like.

You can also look at it from the point of view that he is a boss hiring a worker who is going to be the most visible person in his business.

I don't really have a problem with it. Newton was already somewhat of a character question mark, I'm sure he was relieved that he has no tats or piercings and figures all they would do is hurt his perceived character even more.

And I'm sure if a white QB like Mallett or Garcia were going to be drafted #1 overall, the same protocol would have happened.

I think it's stupid because they are athletes and who cares if athletes have tattoos, but it's his call.
