Sitting here watching old UFC fights. Getting ready to watch Shamrock Ortiz from UFC 40 anyone fans from the days of Gracie Shamrock and Severn have any old fights I should watch?

UFC was an entirely different animal back then. MMA as a system unto itself hadn't evolved yet, so it was one of the only venues for testing the relative effectiveness of various martial arts against each other.

I miss those days. The evolution of MMA as its own style has been great for the sport, but it's just not the same.

Tank Abbott (yes, fatass Tank) was crackin skulls; he knocks a dude out (1hitta-quitta-style) buckles the dudes back, he was out on his feet.

that was back when fighters had multiple fights in one night.
